YouTube Faves of 2021?

Posted 3 Months ago by Castrael

Abandoned/Paranormal/etc
  • Sam and Colby
  • Exploring with Josh

    Finance/stuff like that
  • Graham Stephen

    Minimalism/Film/etc
  • Matt D'Avella

    Skincare/Beauty/etc
  • Hyram

And I pretty much watch whatever's on my newsfeed that interests me due to the Youtube's algorithm. Lol. This is what I've been basically doing. Watching YouTube videos. Free entertainment. Gotta love the ads though, but I do support them by watching 'em.

OneyPlays/SleepyCast videos mixed with some Ludwig and xQc highlights.
Gus Johnson may be one of the funniest people on YouTube right now, too

I binge his stuff occasionally, but his style does not mesh with what I'm looking for usually.

I do really appreciate the Kaufman-esque performance art that was him pretending to be a shitty sellout YouTuber for a couple of weeks, though.

He's been on Twitch regularly since the initial video. He always seems so.. apathetic and down.
Until tonight's stream with Rust. Sure, he might have hung out with the very people he was poking fun at tonight, but he looked like he was having a blast.

Oh yeah, this guy as well. I forgot because I'm not subscribed to him for some reason. His recent video where he sets his electric showerhead on fire underwater is fucking awesome.

I had him in my newsfeed a few times. I think it was when I watched iJustine and a few others I can't remember.

Linus is the defacto standard for tech news and PC builders. His recommendation of LG's OLED CX TV inspired me to spring for one, and I've never been happier with a TV in my life. And that one video they tested the "TV screen protector" was hilarious!

I love Mythbusters-esque content. Learning and discovery, but creative, and fun.

Also Count Dankula, 25 Buttholes and Geno Samuel 2.0.

Probably the channels I consume the most:

    - Action Button
    - Auralnauts
    - Brian David Gilbert
    - Contrapoints
    - Curio
    - Demi Adejuyigbe
    - Every Frame a Painting (they don't do new stuff, but I still like to revisit it)
    - Extra Credits History
    - FilmJoy
    - Folding Ideas
    - GameMaker's Toolkit
    - hbomberguy
    - History Buffs
    - Jack Saint
    - Jim Sterling
    - Jon Bois
    - Kurzgesagt
    - Lindsey Ellis
    - Maggie Mae Fish
    - moviebob
    - Mr Sunday Movies
    - NakeyJakey
    - NerdSync
    - Nerdwriter1
    - New Frame Plu
    - Noah Caldwell-Gervais
    - Owen Likes Comics
    - Patrick H Willems
    - PBS Eons
    - PhilosophyTube
    - Pop Culture Detective
    - Polygon
    - ProZD
    - RenegadeCut
    - Secret Base
    - Shaun
    - Small Beans
    - Some More News
    - T1J
    - The McElroy Family
    - UrinatingTree
    - VaatiVidya
    - videogamedunkey
    - WiseCrack
    - Witch Doctor (for my BattleBot fix)

That's not even all the channels I subscribe to, but those are the ones I generally try to watch all their stuff when it comes out.

Still think the absolute best thing I saw last year might have been Secret Base's 6-part series on the history of the Seattle Mariners. I don't care a lick about baseball, but it was such an entertaining and well-told story.

I'm very picky about what I watch, but you guys watch way more than me. :/ lol.

I enjoy watching vlogs too. Mainly to see what another country is like or just to see someone's life in their own eyes.

I mean, most of the channels I subscribe to post like, one video every month at best. It's not that I'm not picky; it's just I have to follow a bunch of people I like to get content throughout the month!

I find people who post once or twice a week and I'm usually satisfied. I love Youtube but it does get boring after awhile when I keep refreshing the newsfeed for new content. I'm currently waiting for Sam and Colby to release their 25 x 25 content. Sigh.
