Undeaded Gasoline?

Undeaded gasoline? (or, for the British, undeaded petrol?)

In a society that depends so very much on fossil fuels, it used to be that better performance was achieved by adding dead compounds, such as tetraethyl dead, to the refined product of the fossil fuels. But environmental concerns lead to this being phased out, and other means being used to improve performance; all such fuel sold now is required by law to be undeaded.

Nevertheless, the most popular type of automobile fuel is Regular Undeaded Self-Serve.

So, what is Undeaded Gas?
Like Zombie Dinosaurs? Or even Vampire Dinosaurs?
And what was Deaded Gas, when it was legal?

(In case anyone wonders what I've been smoking; On the way here I drove past a Valero station that advertised "UNLEAD GAS". I misread that as "UNDEAD GAS" at first. I assume they left off the "-ED" to save space.)

[unparsed]Undead gas is the zombie who doesn't get tired and doesn't want to unionize pulling your car Fred Flintstone style

[unparsed]Just thought:

if there were necros at the time of dinosaurs, the world probably wouldn't have fossil fuels, since those bones would've all been raised and used/broken down for ritual. alternately, all or most of the fossil fuel resources would be collected into one single area due to some sort of necro-geopolitics

Gas isn't made from dinosaurs :P

It's made from sediments of microorganisms decaying things like pete, and the hydrocarbons they produce by breaking down organic matter without the presence of enough oxygen.

That said, I had a sort of undead oil race, which were people who were cursed by a resentful ocean 'deity' for releasing toxic petroleum into the water with their exploitations. They were made to consume and become the leakage and pollution they wrought.

Bones stuck together by a microbial slime of black oil and flesh.

It kind of backfired though.

Thanks @F_C, and thanks @Blake, for actually thinking about this idea a bit.
@F-C, I think your thoughts are worth pursuing, even though

Yeah, I know, petroleum and other fossil fuels were probably all or mostly made when coal was made, during the Carboniferous, quite some time before any vertebrates made it onto land. (Interestingly, the Carboniferous, with its "giant" insects, was a time when the partial pressure of the atmosphere due to oxygen was significantly higher than now; but the ability of lobe-finned fish to stick their heads out of the water and take a gulp of fresh air (the first step to amphibianhood) was evolved at a time when the oxygen in the water was significantly lower than now. Or at least that's what I think I heard/read/saw, IIRC.)

How come? Sounds interesting.

Poor Pete!*
Maybe Pete’s the undead 🧟‍♂️ guy who used to add to the gas ⛽️?

*(I know Blake meant peat, not Pete.)
