Some of them seem like variations on a theme:

  • Brahma

  • Ahura Mazda

  • יהוה‎

  • Allah

I don't know how anyone can be anything but agnostic. That might be narrow-minded, but that's my take on it. We're here, on this random rock in space, going about our lives in a vast, expansive, universe. We can barely see a fraction of what's out there and what exists, there is an infinite amount of knowledge that we do not know and will never obtain, and we don't have any solid information that proves or disproves a higher power, and humans so tiny, so insignificant in the vast scheme of things, religious or atheist, are so convinced that they know exatly how the universe came to be, who or what's behind it, what happens after we die, and how it works.

It perplexes me, the certainty they have. Our minds are incapable of comprehending the vastness, the magnitude, and the origin of the reality we live in. How could we possibly know what's behind it. I just don't understand.

I actually think there's something kind of interesting about the creation of deities and "religion." Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan. But I think there's something interesting about the fact that wherever you look in the world - east Asia, South America, Australia, Africa, Europe, North America, Pacific islands - humans seem to have developed these deities, some often similar to many other cultures' gods, and something resembling "souls." From an anthropological perspective, I think it's kind of fascinating that all these things are kinda similar but developed organically separate from one another.

But also, yeah, I'm not sure I've ever really understood why I'm supposed to think that like, Scientology or Mormonism is bad because they're "cults" when like, Islam or Christianity are somehow not?
