The E3 Thread

Posted 1 Month ago by ShadowFox08

Anybody watching the E3 conferences? MS, Ubisoft and Square Enix went up today.

Capcom is up tomorrow.

Nintendo is going on Tuesday with their digital event at 0900 PST, followed by bandai-namco around 2.

Sony isn't having one at E3 this year. welp

What do you guys think so far, and what are your expectations?

I heard MS and Ubisoft was pretty good. There's that pirates game in development that Rare is making, and they are working with Disney to have a Pirates of Caribbean crossover! There's also huge support from Bethesda for MS with game pass. For me, I only own a switch, and I think they Mario + rabbids was kinda cool.

expectations wise I'm hoping Nintendo reveals

-new switch console. ampere with DLSS and A78s from an Orion S chip releasing this year maybe? with some third party exclusives.
-Games: Botw2 reveal, Metroid news (MP4 or something else), Splatoon 3, Pokemom Gen 4 remakes, Pokemon Sinnoh Legends.. hopefully need for a new monolith soft game (XCX port or xenoblade 3 teaser) and maybe a bayonetta 3 trailer.

The Summer fest opener was more interesting than alot of the other presentations so far imo. Gearbox and Ubisoft's were the worst. Gearbox's was the worst as most of it was skits and I wasn't impressed by the lineup. The info they provided about the headliner headliner (aka Wonderlands) didn't really show any other info that we already didn't see in other presentations. Gearbox presentation was basically, "We have a movie." for a gaming convention...

Mario and Rabbids 2 screams Switch Pro to me. I never really got into the strategy type of games, but it looks really good and I heard nothing but good things about M&R1.

The future games show was pretty nice and straight to the point which I definitely appreciated. I am also glad we got to see alot of love for the indie devs in these events.

I am excited for Splatoon 3 (although I had a bit of a falling out of with Spltoon 2 not sure why as the game itself was quite good). I do hope we get to see more details about BoTW2 myself.

Regardless of what you think of their games, it's kind of nuts how Microsoft has consistently put off the best conference since they had that one horrible one with the Xbone. Just game after game every year. No dumb skits or endless talking.

that's what a lot of credible sources say. The orin S chip uses 15 watts, which is around current switch's consumption in docked. Also, I'm expecting $400 price point. we'll see. I can't imagine them using older Nvidia GPU like turing or pascal. I'm hoping Q4 2021 to Q1 2022.

Remember if you dont have an internet connection they have a console just for you!

Xbox 360.

God that presentation was so bad. I am happy they have turned it around.

I feel indifferent about Nintendo’s reel. Metroid Dread looks cool.

SO far the main items of interest for me are Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and the Zelda releases and maybe the new SMT.

So i read about the direct during work, but I just watched the direct in full.

3 games in lock
-skyward sword (eventually)
-no more heroes 3
-metroid dread

maybe
-pokemon gen 4 remake
-dragon ball z kakarot.

Looks fun
-Monkey ball
-crusin blast looks kinda of fun

Life is Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy look cool too. Not sure if the latter is on the cloud.. But I'm willing to bet they can run natively on a switch pro. And that breath of the wild sequel looked amazing. I was surprised by the trailer of the new metroid game too, though I heard some rumors about the name and a 2d style in the works for some time. Looks good though.

The lack of new AAA western party support sucks though

they havent even announced the pro. I would be shocked if it can run any modern games at all

I remember watching Nintendo's E3 conference in grade 8 in the computer lab. Checking the Brawl updates every day. Now I couldn't give a fuck

at this point in time, it's definitely doable to make a hybrid console that is in between xbone and ps4 in power. That alone with A78 CPUs or equivalent with 2-4x more memory bandwidth over current switch will run any xbone/ps4 game easily. And this is without factoring DLSS. in many ways it can be treated like a next gen console in power.

we'll see what happens. I hope the ampere with DLSS is true. it will likely be on 8nm samsung
.Q4 2021 to end of Q1 2022 is my guess

I think you are getting your hopes up. I dont think the switch pro will even be on par with the PS4 Pro.

It is nintendo I fully expect them to not only fuck it up, but I expect their fanbase to eat that shit up.

I am hoping I am wrong but I doubt it lol.

in terms of performance, if docked mode ends up being around xbone to ps4 base on it's own (GPU wise), then it's definitely possible with DLSS to match ps4 pro in performance. I don't know if you are aware but DLSS gives massive performance and resolution improvements to the rtx 2000 and 3000 Nivida GPU card series.

If the CPU ends up being A78s, it's gonna blow last gen CPU out of the water, so that could help with some CPU bound games (cyber punk would be interesting to see).

really the only thing I am worried about is the bandwidth. Good news is that Nvidia is good at circumventing some of this with their tech, so nintendo doesn't need to match os4's in raw numbers... but current switch's bandwidth is a pathetic 25.6GB/s. I'm hoping something closer to 100 GB/s on 128 bit LPDDR5, but we'll see. Also hoping this new model has significantly more cache too, as that could help with allocating bandwidth.
