Steam deck has better screen, better CPU/GPU, better RAM, better storage, better video output, etc., etc., etc.

Already bought my reservation.

Fuck Nintendo lmao

Kind of pointless to compare the specs between the Steam Deck and Switch, don't you think? You buy the Switch to play Switch games, not Steam games.

Honestly, I don't see myself buying it, as cool as it sounds. If I want to play PC games, I'll just use my PC. I don't do enough traveling to spend 400-600 dollars on a handheld PC-gaming console. Even then, I'd probably just buy a laptop so I could use it for other things as well.

The comparison is apt for me, since I have wanted both a beefy handheld and a new gaming computer for a while, and the portable plus dockable model that the Switch went for is right up my alley. I considered buying a Switch for a couple of games, but it couldn't sell me. The Steam Deck, being a beefier version and having massively more games that I want to play, is what I want out of the kind of machine that the Switch is.

(The games that I was thinking about playing on Switch being Risk of Rain 2, Dark Souls and Doom 2016, which are all on Steam. Other games that I might have liked in a vacuum like Breath of the Wild or Animal Crossing aren't that interesting to me compared to other games on Steam.)

I could see myself potentially getting something like this if I can connect it to my TV and play with a controller. It's definitely not something I'm going to rush out to get, but I could use something to play some of my Steam games, if they aren't already available on console.

i bought the switch to play all games on the console. the majority of the games on the console run like shit due to its limited hardware. (This includes some first party titles)

Im yeeting my switch and picking up one of these eventually.

Depends on how you look at it and what kind of gaming you liked. I could see this becoming a great platform for easy emulation of video games across the board. Imagine emulating Switch games that run better than on the switch.

That's a VERY good point. Not 100% sure it would be able to emulate Switch games very well, but I could see it probably emulating Wii U and PS3 games. DEFINITELY PS2 games.

Well maybe not at first, but the switch hardware is fairly simple and has been around for a long time. I think the steam deck hardware could emulate switch genre pretty well.
