most annoyingdifficult enemy youve ever faced

Posted 4 Months ago by -Riku-

When I say enemy I am not talking about bosses, minibosses, or anything like that. I am talking about the regular enemies that you fight throughout the game.

I have two that come to mind. Revenants from God of War 4 and Great Malboro from FFX. Revenants are super agile and the only way to hit them with your attacks is to have Atreus stun them with his arrows so you can get in a few hits before they recover. Great Malboros are found in the Omega Ruins and Inside Sin and will ALWAYS ambush you with Bad Breath, causing a lot of status ailments including confusion. I've found that the best way to fight them is to have someone with the first strike weapon ability and delay the attack somehow

Spies in Team Fortress 2. They have the ability to turn invisible, disguise themselves as one of your teammates, and instakill you with a backstab. They're one of the reasons that I main Pyro, because Pyro is their hard-counter. If Pyros didn't exist, Spies would destroy a lot more games.

Rockbreaker's in Horizon Zero Dawn are espicially annoying as they are massive, can go under ground to then pop out underneath you and then spit rocks at you from long distances while you try to disable and destroy it. It's more annoying than the Thunderjaw and the Deathbringer which are the biggest enemies in the game I think.

Spies in Team Fortress 2.

Team Fortress Classic was better IMO but that's a 21 year old addon to a 22 year old game that not much people play anymore. I miss the hallucinating grenades you could through at people and watch them freakout and shoot at nothing.

Toss up between zombies and super mecha boy in X-com Enemy Within. (The former being able to kill you with one hit and turn you into zombie. The Latter being a goddam tank that can also kill you with one hit)

Jockeys in Left 4 Dead 2. If they had like 35 less HP, they would be fine. But they are small, the move erratically, can instantly control your character and also can tank multiple shotgun blasts...thanks, Valve.

I'm playing through Ring Fit Adventure right now and I honestly hate fighting the yoga mats. They just heal enemies and do nothing else. Incredibly annoying if there's like 2 of them in one match.

Also I honestly hated fighting Regenerators/Iron Maidens in RE4. Don't like how I pretty much had to attach a special scope to see their parasites.

Without Pyros, the game would be a Spy's paradise. I also did a good spy counter as Demoman. I also hated the early days when a spy could face stab you from the front and get backstab credit.

Incendiary shuriken ninjas in Ninja Gaiden 2. They were a nightmare on master ninja mode. They swarm around you chucking incendiary shurikens at you and they can even stick to surfaces around you. You cannot block them. The only thing you can do is use a tiny i-frame window while dashing to get through the explosion, but with so many shuriken exploding its really hard to time them all.

I recently thought something similar about jockeys. I've realized that they are way harder to shove away than a lunging hunter because it's harder to predict their jump. They lunge at you from a surprising distance.

Virtually anything possessed by a Spirit in the Doom Eternal DLC. Makes even the tough demons almost twice as hard to defeat, and then you have to defeat the Spirit itself before it finds a new host, and that host can literally be anything from a simple zombie to a Tyrant (basically a Cyberdemon).
