I do think that's my favorite star wars as well, although I do like The Last Jedi (though it seems to get worse with each rewatch).

The ones we can't watch anymore.

I just want access to non cgi-screwed 4, 5, and 6.

But yeah, Empire. Jedi for feels but that's more due to my age when it came out.

You can still find old VHS copies of the original version of those.

Like, old-school cantina song original, not "no WESA FREE" original

Weren't the VHS releases also altered from their theatrical versions, too? I keep wondering why Disney hasn't released the theatrical cut in a restored fashion, since it's such an obvious moneymaker. But I do kinda feel like it had to have been one of the terms from George Lucas when he sold it. The dude went to great measures to make sure that no one would have access to the theatrical versions, so I don't think it's that hard to believe he would have made it part of his sale conditions.

Anyway, I'm inclined to think that every Star Wars movie gets worse upon rewatches, except for that original film. Visually, it's obviously dated, but still looks good. But because it's so heavily reliant on tropes and archetypes and structurally reliant on editing, I think narratively it holds up the best. (Also being much simpler helps.)

But, I'm one of those The Last Jedi defenders who think it's hands down the most interesting Star Wars movie, and as a result it became my favorite.

Also, every year, my Catholic training kicks in and my default response to "May the Fourth be with you," is always "And also with you."

Although I think they changed the response at some point in the last decade or so.

We have those somewhere. No working VCR and no non-digital tv. We do have an ancient VCR-to-PC converter device but I've never used it and it looks As-Seen-On-TV AF. But if we get a VCR I'll try it I reckon.

Also I'm lazy.
