It's always nice to learn something new about an old favorite

Posted 1 Month ago by Axem Great Water

I replayed The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages, recently, using a Linked Game Password Generator so I could play both versions with all of the upgraded items. One of the bosses is based off of Medusa, being a severed head with snake hair that flies around and can shoot orbs at you that temporarily turn you into stone. The usual method of defeating her is to shoot Pegasus Seeds at her, which stuns her for a moment and then smack her with your sword. When I got to the battle, however, I realized that I had the Mirror Shield this time around (you can only get the Level 2 shield in a non-Linked Game), and that Medusa Head is, obviously, based off of Medusa. Sure enough, it let me reflect her petrifying attacks back at her.

I wasn't TOO surprised that I had never thought of this, since I usually start out with Oracle of Seasons whenever I replay these games, meaning that Seasons is a vanilla playthrough and Ages is a Linked Game. I WAS surprised to find that, apparently, nobody else has ever thought to try this. Or rather, nobody that's written a guide or a wiki entry for this boss. Feels kind of cool to learn something new about an old favorite game, especially if you're the "first."

That's pretty neat!

What's your favorite ring from OOS/OOA?

Probably the Green Ring. Increased attack and defense is pretty hard to beat. What about you?

It's hard to argue with that one, but I'm a Power Ring L-3 guy myself because I like playing as a glass cannon. The Zora Ring also seems to have the most utility overall -- good way to just dodge everything.

Yeah, the Zora Ring is pretty useful. The L-2 Heart Ring, as well. Healing yourself just by walking back and forth for a few minutes is another one that can't really be beaten.
