I didn’t feel welcome here any more. (19 hours ago)

I don’t feel welcome here any more.
When I revive an old thread all I get are questions about why I would revive something that old.
Nobody here shares my interests, unless you do.

[edit] The middle sentence above still seems true, but the first and last ones don’t anymore. [/edit]

The issue is that you're still trying to be active, and most of the rest of the site is trying to lurk. IDK why, it bugs me too.

I understand what you mean, Chiarizio.

I am sorry that we could not foster a more supportive community for you here.

@Riven:
I think there may also be a technical problem.
Only about three of the threads I contributed to between 2014 and 2017 can still be found.
Only about a dozen or a score of those I wrote to between nine years ago and three years ago can still be found.
...
@tnu and CZM and everyone:
OTOH I also may be confused by the fact that the “Nostalgia” forum is going strong with people reviving stuff that happened before my 54th birthday 15 years ago and some of these same people don’t like when I revive threads that are 10 years old.
Maybe those people are just exceptional assholes and not representative of the board as a whole;
or, even more charitably, maybe they were just having a bad day.
Thank you for your kind responses!
....
@Riven:
You’ve recommended I ask questions many users can respond to.
The thing is many of the basic starter questions of WorldBuilding were already asked ten to fourteen years ago; it’s just that most current gtx0ers haven’t answered them.
....
I know there are mathematics enthusiasts here; enough to talk to each other about topics that interested me before I even knew those people existed. So, some of my interests are shared by some people here; I just don’t seem to be able to get their attention.

What are you looking for? I might be able to help.

It makes more sense to recreate starter questions -- most people want something easy to respond to, not a very long thread full of ancient replies.

The state of worldbuilding on GTX0 is also a bit weird -- I know for a fact that there are worldbuilders here or people with worldbuilding projects like tnu or Alan, but they're not used to belonging to conworlding communities so they may not have explored the minutiae of their projects. They'd be more able to respond to more generalized questions.

Same deal with other topics -- generalized or "starter" questions are always going to generate more conversation, even if the topic has been discussed before.

Also, chiarizio, I appreciate and respect that you raised the issues you have with other people with those actual people rather than bringing it to my attention as something wrong with the site. I wish more people did that.

I had a discussion or explanation of what the twelve possible nucleotide bases could be and still have Watson-Crick and evolution.
It included such details as why there are twelve of them.
I still have, off-line, my links to the technical articles explaining all this; but I can no longer find my own explanation of it, which I posted here (if I remember correctly, and I think I do!), and which in my opinion is easier to understand — at least for me.

That’s what I was looking for when I found the 2014-2017 abyss in the 9-year-ago-to-3-year-ago desert.

....

Thank you for asking!
Thanks for investigating!
And thanks for thanking me! I did “talk” to Q about it, and I guess (?) it’s a “cultural” difference in netiquette. I’ll try to learn the new way; when on GTX0, try to do as the GTX0ers would probably do? Or something like that.

I'll certainly look for it when I get back to my computer. I'd like to make a post message search feature, but that would either have a lot of limits or would require a *ton* of work to optimize it.

As for nettiquette differences, I think the deal with GT people is that we're used to threads not bumping -- the old gametalk did that, and gtx0 was also like that for many years. If you responded to a thread that was made more than a few days ago no one would ever see it.

Additionally, we're used to threads not having pages -- that makes long threads harder to get into initially.

I am barely here. Am bad user....sitegoer? Something. Also I have trouble replying for a myriad of reasons including: anxiety, lack of attention span, home stuff, a new gaming pc :), my being verrry different from most folx here, new-to-me aspects of the webernet, etc.

Not to mince words, I think you are dope as fuck, chiarizio. I find you to be a kind person, one who is far more intelligent than me, and one who is as eager to please those he cares about as I feel I can be. And I'm SUPER needy for responses/attention/etc so I'm glad to see this post. It's good to ask, I think.

I'll try to be around more. I'm an actor type, so I might flake out on you. But I mean not to.

@Riven:
That very first URL —— the https://gtx0.com/thread/weird-con-biology-ideas-thread one —— was indeed the one I was looking for!
Particularly the bit in the “spoilers”, but really the whole thing.
Thanks!
I’m also going to review the rest!

They all contain the word "nucleotide" somewhere in there, so they should be threads that explore alt-biology in some depth.

I'm glad you're on this forum, and while I can't speak for anyone else, I specifically recall people here talking about you behind your back and saying only very nice things.
