COVID-19: Helium Update

Posted 2 Weeks ago by Helius

Thanksgiving: I was in the midst of living through a union strike at the nursing home that I work at. I was working 12 hour days for six days in a row for two weeks while the union dispute was going on. Needless to say, I was wiped out from all of that work. I also missed Thanksgiving as I was working. Normally, I function as a case manager (doing discharges, making sure people are taken care of, etc). I had taken the role of Admissions director for the facility in April when they decided to fire the Admissions director. It added a nice $500 bonus each month to my paycheck (because I am cheap labor). When the strike occurred, I was a cook (got certified as a food protection and safety manager), and I worked briefly as a housekeeper (cleaning, sanitizing, taking out the trash). I have bragging rights though! The employee bathroom has never smelled that clean before. I literally wiped everything... EVERYTHING with Lysol. Burn it with fire I did! The strike ended in December, and we hired a bunch of as needed employees to help us get through while everyone else was out there catching COVID.

December: Our regular employees came back to work. Our as needed employees stayed. They both began spreading COVID in the building. We were testing twice a week at that point. Meaning... I had my nasal passages violated twice a week. The employees believe in sharing, and shared they did. We had an outbreak (our second wave as we had an outbreak in August that was quickly contained). We lost a lot of staff to quarantine and lost some of our residents.

Christmas: I was diagnosed with COVID-19 the week of Christmas. I had modified my life in March of 2020 to do absolutely nothing. In hopes that I would not catch COVID-19 and to protect my family and people I work with, but unfortunately, I got it. It started off with congestion, cough and progressed to fever, chills, fatigue, etc. My body fought it off, but it did do unfortunate things to my blood pressure. Normally have high blood pressure (160s/100s) because of genetics and stress. My blood pressure dropped on Christmas to 60s/40s which is incredibly low. I wound up passing out and hitting my head. The next week of my quarantine was relaxing and resting to help my body fight off the virus. Vitamin C, D, and Zinc folks! This combo helps your body lessen the length of a mild case of symptoms.

New Years: I finally got back to work. I wound up taking the Pfizer vaccine on the 4th. I have not experienced any symptoms other than your typical pain at the injection site that you would normally get from a flu shot if you don't move your arm enough. That disappeared after a day or two. I did not gain any super powers. I did not die (that I know of... I may still be a Redack AI). I did not have any adverse side effects. I do get round two of the vaccine at the end of the month. I will update you if I gain super powers, die, or am granted immunity.

That's what is going on with me. What about all of you?

Just out of curiosity, is your job requiring it?

Also surprised you don't have antibodies from the disease itself.

My job is not requiring it because it has not been around long enough to know what the vaccine will actually do for side effects. I am actually reporting any side effects that I may have to the CDC. So... I am really being a test subject.

I do have antibodies but I have seen some research that suggests the following... say your immunity is on a scale of 0 to 10. You contract COVID and fight it off. Your immunity starts off at a 6 on the scale. Over time, your immunity drops to a 2. Same scenario but you get the vaccine after recovering. Your immunity starts at an 8 and remains an 8 for the same amount of time it would take for the immunity in the previous scenario to become a 2. It basically enhances the duration and strength of your immunity to COVID. I could have not gotten it but they are talking about needing a vaccination passport to go back to school or to fly. I don’t want to do the former but I might want to do the latter at some point.

I've heard those rumors too. I don't think they'll do that though.

I mean you literally need a vaccination card to go to a public school/college/university. Atleast here in california.
