Big ass Nintendo Direct incoming on Wed Feb 17, 2022 A.D. at 2pm PST

Posted 2 Weeks ago by ShadowFox08

Just announced today, and it will be a 50 minute direct. Smash Bros news and games covering up to the first half of 2021 is expected to be covered.

what are your predictions?

I'm guessing

-smash ultimate dlc
-hw:aoc dlc
-botw 2 update with trailer
-monster hunter rise news
-pokemon snap
-nmh3 update and release
- a Mario sports game?
-zelda 35 anniversary games, with three games in one.. or maybe a separate direct for that a week from now

-maaaybe this year's pokemon (diamond pearl remakes), though I don't expect a release till October.

no switch pro news. don't expect any news for switch pro until late March/April at the earliest, tbqh.. but a release in Q4 2021 to coincide with botw 2.

Ah, yay, I'm home to watch it.

- a Mario sports game?

I would love for a Mario Kart 9! Mario Kart 8 was fun to play. It took awhile to understand the drifting part but I think I got it down. I just haven't played 8 for a while.

-maaaybe this year's pokemon (diamond pearl remakes), though I don't expect a release till October.

^^^That and I'm hoping for a lot of remakes. Maybe not this year but in the future. ~coughgoldensuncough~ I would love some 3ds Pokemon game remakes too though.

I think MK9 will be a 2022 release at the earliest. We could potentially get botw 2 this year with switch pro, as well as a new Pokemon game (more likely remake--gen 4). MK9 would be overkill for this year.

oh I forgot it's 35th anniversary for Metroid as well this year. Not really expecting much, but hoping for Metroid Prime Trilogy Remastered..

I forgot it's 35th anniversary for Metroid as well this year.

I am willing to bet that nintendo also forgot that it's the 35th anniversary for metroid.

I expect to be disappointed by Nintendo once again.

Gonna be nice to see a direct either way, tbh.

yeah it's pretty crazy to see anniversaries for three different franchises (35th for Zelda, 25th for Pokemon, and 35th for Metroid).

Metroid will probably get shafted out of the 3. besides MP Trilogy, wish they ported the 3ds version of that Metroid on switch too.

Not gonna lie I would pick up the most recent 3ds game in a heartbeat. Would be cool to see "Metroid the Other M" as well. (FIGHT ME)

25th for Pokemon

Yo. What if they release Pokemon Spear/ Bow?

Also wait there is Even more. 2021 is crazy stacked for Nintendo:

40th Anniversary of Donkey Kong

35th Anniversary of Zelda and Metroid (Also, Kid Icarus)

30th Anniversary of F-Zero

25th Anniversary of the N64 and Pokémon

20th Anniversary of Animal Crossing, Pikmin, the GameCube and GBA.

I am not holding my breath for anything spectacular. But if Nintendo wasnt ran by literal fools they could make 2021 a spectacular year for gaming and continue to out sell Sony/ Microsoft.

Especially if they sprinkle a release of an Anniversary edition/ Update of each franchise above through out the year.

What will kill me is if they do announce a Diamond and Pearl remake for Switch.

Welp, that direct was underwhelming.

Really excited for smash DLC pyra/mythra, and I'm looking forward to Skyward Sword HD. But that's it. SS HD just looks lke a 1080p game but no added HD textures or lighting that TP HD and WW HD got on Wii U. It's got an optio nto play dual analog controls though. I hope its not $60 MSRP...ugh

I hardly expected much at all from this direct. I am glad we're getting Skyward Sword HD though.

Hopefully skyward sword's controls are less... controversial this time I guess. I may not have minded them, I just I guess was dissuaded from trying the game further from what I heard about the motion controls. The game does seem interesting though and I may well like it fine regardless.

I think they're letting you use motion controls or not this time thankfully.

I am hoping they will at least do a mini direct or something about these. Maybe they will even just do tweet announcements too.

Hopefully. It was a good opportunity for them to create some hype for those games since a lot of people were talking about it.

I can't fucking believe they didn't have any news for Halo

I think they are more likely to announce these during E3.. They save their heavy hitters for the summer usually, but no zelda trailer seemed puzzling.

We did get two new pokemon games announced today though. Remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and also this open world game that is also based in the sinnoh region

It was very underwhelming. No word on Bayonetta, Astral Chain Sequel, Zelda 2 or Metroid.

The direct was pretty underwhelming, yeah, I agree.

Though the new Smash Character was nice. I also like the Legend of Mana remaster we are getting (though to be fair it's also coming out on PC and PS4).

Was also nice to note we're having a remaster of Pokemon Diamon/Pearl which I will be picking up personally.

Anyone here tried Project Triangle Theory yet?

It's really fun! There's 3 battles. It's like Octopath Traveler with some RPG tactical gameplay. I highly recommend you guys to try the free demo. It's going to be a buy for me for sure.
