How's everybody? I'm slowly figuring out my life. I've decided to finish school, at least my Associates Degree. I'm still not sure about transferring to Uni yet though. I've been looking for jobs again and I'm still practicing minimalism so that I can be debt free (spending holic here) and I've been loving this life style. I'm looking at becoming an extreme minimalist, but when I move out (Cuz lol, my life style is different than my parents). I own less then 25 (estimate guess) things now, including clothes and shoes when I had over 100 stuff. It makes me anxious when I watch Youtube videos trying to declutter/organize their space when they don't actually need it, etc. lol. I love the idea of fitting everything I own into a bag. I would love to travel one day, but I also want to settle in my own home with a cat (no more dogs) and become a full time writer.

I've been researching veganism. Not sure if I'll go that route yet because I still love meat and dairy products but I've been looking into clothes, shoes, and handbags alternatives. I've also been researching zero waste more and how to be more sustainable living in my every day life. I've also been looking at the tiny house movement too, but really hesitant about a composting toilet and water usage.

I don't play video games anymore. Too expensive and I'm trying to save money for my future funds. My goals at the moment are 1) stay in school and get my degree, 2)find a full time job, 3) journal and meditate (I guess?), 4) read more and eventually write my novel with full confidence.

Sounds like you are doing good things! I am happy to hear that you are actively working to improve yourself and the world around you.

Have you tried keeping a dream journal? Also maybe try practicing lucid dreaming! I get a feeling that sort of thing might be right up your alley.

With the option to live sustainably and completely off the grid, it gives humans a choice of what is important for them. Do you want to have a legacy? Do you care what people will think after you are gone?

What is your opinion about the following quote

"I would rather people ask why I have no monument, than why I do"
-Cato the Elder (maybe a little paraphrasing by yours truly)

Would you rather have a monument to your deeds? Or are you okay with slipping into obscurity?

I personally prefer the obscurity route. Live life, give it your all, burn out, fade away. You did it your way.

If you ever catch me thinking about personal legacy-building, just punch me.

Nice. Its going to be interesting packing my entire life away in a couple of months. I too am doing the minimalism thing to the best degree I can. It has worked for my book collection.

Not OP but: I would like to say I have no visions of glory or personal gain but that wouldnt be true. I would like to be remembered by those I helped in my field of work. Not necessarily to boost my own ego but more in terms of "this person went well and beyond to help me and make a difference in my life. They taught me something/ influenced me to become the person that I am today" Is it selfish wanting to bring out the best in others? Maybe, Maybe not.

Not a day goes by that I dont think of my favorite teacher and how big of an impact he had on my life. Honestly if it wasnt for his class I really dont think I would be where I am today. (And I only had 1 awful teacher through my K-12 career every one of my teachers was good/ great in their own right but he is by far the one who raised the bar) I miss this man greatly. For a little context he was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 17 and beat it. He developed another form of cancer close to 50-60 years later and actively joked about having to beat the Big C for a second time to teach it a lesson. One helluva guy.

And here I own 24 (not an estimate) Gamecube games. I suppose this probably means that I am not much of a minimalist.

Forget that noise. I bought as much house as I could comfortably afford (which at 1250 square feet isn't really all that much, to be honest) on almost half an acre of land. Of all the many ways one might measure human freedom I can think of none so appealing as having enough property to adequately flaunt the sinister designs of busybody municipal planners. They'll never slot me into an inner city cubicle. #sprawlisgood

yes but actually no. There are different extremes of the minimalist life styles. You can be a hardcore minimalist and have a little over a dozen items to your name or you can be a minimalist lite. Where you put into practice the lifestyle in the majority of areas of your life but compromise with certain items or hobbies.

Ive found several threads talking about physical media collections. (Specifically with books) And they all agree that you can practice this life style and keep your collections. Normally minimalism allows you too keep certain items which have sentimental value or that you view as important.

Im not going to chuck away my large stack of books and or my small box of cherished trinkets/ random items. But if I had the time (and will to do it) I would ransack my entire room and have close to 30 items not counting clothes or my books/ trinkets.

having a place to call your own is always good. Judging on how my life is going...there is a good chance I will avoid that awkward apartment/ adult roommate phase and go directly into becoming a home owner.

I'm having a hard time deciding what clothes I want to keep and what I'll feel comfortable wearing everytime. I counted at most 27 items of clothing - 8 pairs of socks and 8 underwear (goes for a whole week) but I know of women who have less than that. Like, how?! I have two sweather leggings, 7 tanks, and 1 winter coat (which will be replaced soon.) 1 swimsuit (just in case, but I don't really need it. I don't go swimming.) I kept a lot of just in case items.

I'm inspired by Youtuber: Heal Your Living and the person who wrote Goodbye, Things. I forget his name. And obviously those Minimalism documentaries.

But, thanks guys!!

@SOH: I only wish to keep things that bring me joy *coughkonmaricough* or I use all the time. So, no more junk and whatnot. Eventually, I want a laptop.

I didnt see this. While I would love to have a small cozy little home like the one owned by Bilbo Baggins I dont think I could ever buy into the Tiny House Movement. It seems like a ploy by corporations to get individuals to buy no/ less land.

Yeah, decided against it. What I would like to do though is still get a small home or try living in an apartment and see what it's like living alone. I know for sure I would love it, but I might get lonely.

Not feeling well at all. Have a doctors appointment tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday. I don’t want to continue with my broken life but at the same time I don’t want to commit suicide because that’s a sin and brandy feels the way as I do based on what she said in her post last year. Health problems suck big time and I don’t want to be a part of it anymore. I’ve got tumors growing up my spine and even left palm and more areas of the body and shit and will need to have those removed surgically and probably be forced to go back on chemo to prevent going paralyzed even though I just want to suffer and die at this point. I just want to die surgically so that way I won’t get credited for suicide so that (hopefully) I can make it to heaven assuming there is s God who promises to save us fro our sins if we follow Him. I see no point in continuing my life but I want God to take me away and hopefully that’ll come in the next surgery that I have.

Wow, you quit gaming cold turkey? Brandy did the same thing based on what she said on one of her posts last year (but then again she apparently played some game called dragon warrior lately). I hope your future works out for you.
