I made it to Blighttown! Only took me 5 years of off-and-on playing (literally started my first playthrough in 2014). I'm ~26 hours in.

I'm still using the Halberd. Not sure if I should be looking for a different weapon to upgrade. I did bump it up to +6 recently, but I'm out of large titanite shards. I went back through firelink and got the Zweihander and upgraded it to +4, but it feels too clunky for my playstyle. I like the poking range of the Halberd, and it's pretty quick for how large it is. I have a great axe in my inventory but my strength is too low to handle it and I don't know if I care to put points into it to use the axe. Or should I?

I never know if I'm using crap gear and making things harder than they need to be.

I found some shadow armor that dropped my weight to a point where I'm moving and rolling a lot faster now.

I remember hearing about the Capra Demon a few times. I didn't have much trouble with him. After my first few attempts, though, I was thinking it may take a while. It's a pretty unique encounter in that as soon as you walk through the fog he's right in front of you in a narrow, claustrophobic alley. I think it was my third time that I beat him. I ran up the staircase on the left, got lucky that the two dogs ran up in front of the demon so I could kill them first. Then I just ran up and down the staircase, poking him here and there and dropping down on him when I was able.

So currently still exploring Blighttown. I went through a fog wall, but did not encounter a boss. I wound up running into the poison swamp water and so had to turn around. I haven't found where I'm supposed to be going yet.

From my playthrough on Switch, didn't have any issues at all in performance really. It's vastly improved over PS3/360. Not sure how much, but videos out there exist.

I'm surprised you made it through this game. You do mean that you beat the whole game, right? Would you play DS2 or DS3 if it were on Switch? I never saw your thoughts on the game.

I'm on Xbox.

And another update:

I made it through Blighttown and got the key to Anor Londo Ruins. It was super tense because for the last 15 minutes through Blighttown I had an inch of health and no estus flasks. I didn't care where I was going, I just knew I needed to find a bonfire. I ran into the Quelaag lair and quickly got out of there because I knew I wasn't ready. Then backtracked to the elevator thing to climb up and out of Blighttown.

Now I plan to go back and explore further into Quelaag's lair.

It's really cool how everywhere loops back into Firelink Shrine.

Wait you back tracked? There's a fire shrine thing down there

I was looking for one but never found it in the swamp. I had read that there was one near the wooden elevator so I went up that and kept going until I found one.

So I'm fighting Quelaag and I don't think she's that difficult, but there's this one attack where it seems like the fucking celing falls on my head and takes almost all of my health away and I don't know how to avoid it. I guess I should roll. But I can't tell when she's going to do it.

Beat Quelaag and rang the second bell.

Now I'm in the Demon Ruins (lava place).

Yeah I did beat the game over the summer with my Wanderer class. think I put a hundred hrs into it on Switch. It was a fun experience, though I had to seek help in certain situations. Yeah I would consider ds2 and 3 on Switch.

I'd definitely get DSII for Switch. Probably not 3. Or at least, not for a while. Not that I wouldn't love to play it on Switch or on the gooooo! But I can't just keep buying the same games I already own just so I can play them in bed!

Quelaag is a great fight, I think. She's challenging, but never feels impossible. Dodge rolling is usually the way to avoid most of her attacks. Sometimes, give yourself some distance if you have trouble reading her.
