I've slimmed this idea down a great deal. Here's how this game works:

Basic mechanics

There are a bunch of people that appear to be humans. Most of them are, but a couple are aliens in disguise.

It plays like adventure mafia in spaaaaaace

How to play as an alien that resembles a human

  • Evolve cool abilities that you can use when you evolve into your alien form

  • Get a human alone and kill them with more conventional means, then lie to the other humans afterwards

  • Turn into an alien when you're ready

How to play as an Alien in Alien form

  • Everyone can see that you're an alien, so use your crazy alien superpowers (or evolve new ones) to kill those pesky humans.

How to play as a human

  • Do standard adventure/mafia stuff. Try to survive.

  • Find scattered robot parts and fix the robot. Robots will give you some cool mafia-role-type superpowers. Maybe figure out who's an alien.

Anyone interested? I have a map and a list of robots if anyone's interested.

Hopefully, there'll be more information to come. I'm game if there is!

    In it to win it.

Okay, here is some more information!

    The Map

This map works a little different than other aliens maps.. Basically I want something that will keep players moving and will be somewhat decentralized without being hard to get anywhere like the first aliens map was.

  • There's four rooms in the center instead of one. They connect to each other in a big circle.

  • So the cafeteria for example lets you go to either the armory or robotics, robotics you could then go to the cafeteria or the medic bay or its branch room the bridge, and so on.

  • The four "core rooms" have an elevator that can take you to either Basement 1 or Basement 2. This is a one-way trip!

  • Basement 1 is where the Power, Gravity, and Ship AI rooms are. There's also an elevator down to Basement 2 (one-way).

  • Basement 2 is the "Emergency Corridor". You can go to any room in the station from here, but again it's a one-way trip.

The way this is laid out, no matter what room you're in you'll never be more than 3 movements away from any other room. Since you will be able to do mid-round movements that means you only end up wasting one and a half turns moving.

The game has four Robots. Each one has two missing parts which are elsewhere in the station. Once you repair a robot it will follow you around like a puppy dog. Robots do cool mafia-type stuff mostly:

Four-Eyes -- Scans all the player in the room it's in and determines which of them are aliens.

Crackpot -- Scans every other room and tells whether there is an alien in it or not at the time of the scanning.

(NOTE: "Alien" above includes aliens in human form!)

Gasbag -- Anything you tell Gasbag will be repeated over the intercom in all rooms.

Warmonger -- Some extra firepower. This guy is just around mostly to give the humans a helping hand against mean mean aliens.

This game will have pretty fixed items compared to other adventure games. However you should be able to pick them up automatically without waiting for Host input. Here are some examples (there are more scoped out but they're deliberately hidden)

  • Zapper Adapter -- Pretty much a stun gun. Causes some light damage to everything and a lot of damage to machines.

  • Flamethrower -- Really really effective against aliens in their alien form. Can burn lots of stuff at the same time. However it has limited fuel (rechargeable at your local armory)

  • Standard Boomstick -- A machine gun basically. Good damage, good spray effect. Runs out of ammo easily though there's a lot of it scattered around the station.

  • Standard Pistol -- If you're sneaking and you shoot someone at point-blank range (and their perception isn't heightened any) it will make them lose about half of their max HP. These things are single-shot and very useless in combat otherwise.

  • Standard Blaster -- Decent damage, high accuracy. Infinite ammo.

  • Junkshot Pro -- Lots of damage to everything around what you aim at. Single shot but you can use virtually anything for ammo.

  • Soylent Granola -- Basic protein bar. Recover a light amount of damage.

  • Einstein-Rosen Bisque -- A replenishing soup that goes through a wormhole and returns into the pot over two turns.

  • Neptune Tears -- The finest alcohol money can buy in the constellation! Getting drunk in this game will boost your attack and defense but lower your accuracy and evasion.

Looks good. Now we need some players.

Posted August 29th, 2015 by chiefsonny

    I can get those! :)

I'd like to do some work on the game engine first though, make sure it's up to snuff so I only spend 20-30 minutes per round updating everything.

I would be willing to try

Yay!! A couple more and we should be set.

I'm going to take this thread down for the time being, but I'll have a more official "sign up" post soon.
