Clarification on the One Action rule

For this game you'll only get one action to use per round. This is to simplify the game a little. However to compensate, actions are allowed to be more complex and in some cases can be a merging of two actions.

    Example:
Moonray heals his wounds and then continues along the road with the team.

Previously, this would have needed to be two actions. One for healing and one for moving. Another example to show other sorts of actions I'll allow.

    Example:
Moonray gathers several nearby [insert name] herbs and makes a cure for his poisoning, which he then applies to his wound.

Again, previously this would've been three actions. One for gathering, one for creating and one for curing.

I will also be more lenient when you do go over the line with this. Previously I've always voided the entire action, this time around I will apply as much of it as I feel is fair and void the extra, because otherwise you'd lose your one and only action which ain't fair!

As always you'll be allowed to seek clarification from me before you make an action.

Can you obtain new profession slots as the game progresses? If yes, I'd like the traveler, if no I'll take the farmer.

@Moonray. Did you change this from what it was?

For this particular game yes. I set OOG rules based on each game and I think that rule is the best for this one.

Most of the time you'll all be together, but there are times when splitting up would be advantageous and those times I'd rather OOG not ruin the separation :)

since it's labeled "Professions" on the character sheet and not "Profession," I take it there'll be some means of acquiring more than one of them over time (say, finding a blacksmith willing to teach you Crafting, or just some straight-up "you gain a profession point pick something and you learn it")

also how will death work in this game? Will dying cause to you remain dead until something is explicitly done to revive you (magic, item use, praying to a higher power, etc.), where we can just collectively lose if everyone is dead at the same time?

So like, if I understand this correctly, why would anyone pick anything other than the Farmer? Are all the other roles just basically presets or what?

    Life's path is never straight.

    Correct.

also how will death work in this game?

Still deciding, but it'll probably be temporary with some sort of concequence attached (like losing stat points or something)

So like, if I understand this correctly, why would anyone pick anything other than the Farmer? Are all the other roles just basically presets or what?

There others are just presets for anyone that didn't want to spend the effort making their own. I expect most people will pick farmer.

How will magic work? I take it from the Necromancer description that magic will be elemental (or shadow) but that's about all I got, so here are a few questions:

  • If someone uses magic, do they pick which element they're proficient at?
  • How does one learn magic? (E.g. leveling up, finding spell-teaching items, are the spells preset or can you choose which spells to learn, etc)
  • Also since you explicitly said magic is elemental unless you swap it to become a necromancer, I'm assuming the answer to the question I posted in my thread is "no" (which wouldn't be a big deal to me honestly)

There'll be a list of spells you can use for combat purposes, for non combat purposes then more flexibility will be allowed... Since this is adventure, obviously your own creativity might produce better uses for the combat spells as well.
