If someone hasn't made friends, maintained consistent contact, and grown in a socially constructive environment, they are more likely to grow up with a lot of anxiety and die. It is literally more deadly than smoking, and not to mention your life is a lot less pleasant living being lonely. I'm not sure if that's something someone can quickly recover from later on in life.
