"Fear is the foundation of most governments." - John Adams

"Despite the constant negative press covfefe" - Donald Trump

The day people tried voted for the less of two evils, and to many people's surprise.. Trump ended up winning.

Where were you on this day? I remember sending out my ballot in the mail for Jill Stein. I also remembered dropping one of my classes this day and sitting home to see the elections live.. The moment Trump won Florida and a couple of other states.. man lol. It was intense.

It was pretty interesting. I wasn't planning on voting for president when it became apparent that Trump V. Clinton was going to be the general election, but decided at the last minute to cast my ballot for Trump.

I live in California, so I already knew that a vote for Trump was essentially a non vote, but ultimately I expected him to be better than Clinton, and in my mind voting for Trump was a means to demonstrate my rejection of Clinton, the democrats, and leftism in the United States.

I followed the results pretty closely as they were being tallied, and some of the states were real nail biters, particularly Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia. I recall the lead changing repeatedly in short spans of time, with razor thin margins being reported throughout.

And I have to be honest, it was pretty vindicating to see the establishment left and mainstream media put in its place after grandstanding for ages about the impending Clinton presidency.

Yeah I did feel some vindication after DNC screwed Bernie over. And Hillary still salty as fuck and made a book about it and just blamed everyone else for losing.. Even after she knew her party had it all rigged for her. lol

Now I'm not sure how I feel now. Most of his proposals hasn't affected me directly yet. ,Trump's presidency feels like a reality tv show. A really bad reality tv show. He's managed to bring in the worst people imaginable in his cabinet.. And Every time I've thought about embarrassing myself, I think about Trump and it relieves me that he's the biggest jack ass here by a large margin. lol In all seriousness, I don't think he has grown as a person at all since he became president in January. Still making leaders of other countries "pay their fair share," and still being immature as hell on twitter. If he doesn't get impeached.. I wonder if he'll change by the end of his 4 years to be a much better person.

In many ways at least, it's made people rally together and stronger, and without political parties involved.

A dozen or so drunk and tired men try to come to grips with the established order changing before their eyes.

I'd considered writing in McMullin out of spite but ultimately voted for Johnson instead.

I looked at Johnson's supported policies and he seemed like just another shill for the rich people. Cares about marijuana legalization and abortion rights, but doesn't want to get Government involved in anything. He doesn't care about the youth's increasing tuition cost or healthcare at all. He was like a slightly less conservative GOP.

Yeah, that thread was hilarious.

GhowiloNo, I'm getting as high as possible and passing out.

Me:Fuck why don't we all just OD? This is too much to handle. Shit at work, missed my class and I'm probably gonna drop this.. and now this election shit.

I also remember Bing predicting Hillary would win the elections by 89%. I screen capped it. Gotta find it somewhere.

I went to bed like SA as it would have gone on into early hours of the morn for myself (on a school night, unthinkable). I thought it'd most likely be a Clinton victory, but there was upset tinging the air. Especially after our experiences with the EU referendum, I had a niggling feeling Trump was in fact going to be the victor.

After sleeping reasonably well, I checked my phone to see the result at about 9am GMT. Wifi took a bit to load, and was greeted with a picture of jubilant Republican supporters and a headline of Trump victory. I was surprised, although a part of me always finds it interesting if the underdog wins against the favourite. I remained unchanged on his unsuitability for office, and his time since January has only confirmed this view.

Wish I could've stayed up for the full night, as I always enjoy a good general election.

I think this is a really troubling attitude that has, apparently, infected a lot of Americans. That we are willing to put mentally unstable people in positions of power, who threaten many of the core principles of our nation's founding and constantly try to break down the separation of powers, who has more often than not crossed the line for what a President should be doing, *just* to piss off people we disagree with? That's actually kind of terrifying, and doesn't really support American claims of loving freedom and the Constitution.

I predicted Trump would win the electoral college while losing the popular vote a couple months before. (I also predicted Clinton wouldn't get 50% either.) But I knew that the electoral college tends to favor Republicans, so I figured Trump would have a better chance since he didn't need to do as well with the general population to win the election.

But a lot of what I said that night still seems accurate. He has not been a very hands-on President in terms of enacting policy. He didn't get particularly involved in trying to repeal the ACA. He already isn't getting overly involved in these tax plans (which, by the way, are quite opposite of "fiscally responsible" and no one, even Republicans, seem to like that much). He hasn't been overly involved in foreign policy, often contradicting his own secretary of state and other key administration officials. He's fulfilled his promise of getting hands-off with the war effort (even though he has also expanded military campaigns across the globe; he's just letting generals run it). So far, the only thing he's really done has been to expand ICE raids and start transforming them into something of an American gestapo. And, oh yeah, he's made it a point to fill the swamp with more swampy creatures, something that somehow, no one feels compelled to even momentarily criticize him for.

Other than his unstable presence on Twitter, he has largely been an absentee president. He complains a lot about Republicans in Congress not getting anything done, but has largely not been involved in politicking to get it done. He is the de facto leader of the party. For a guy that touted his ability to make great deals, he has not exactly been active in trying to get deals done. He's spent more time on the golf course and trying to provoke war with North Korea on Twitter than working to get his agenda through.

I agree. In general they suck at marketing ideas. The right only does a mediocre job, but most people are morons so it kind of works. But if I or someone like me were in charge of the DNC, they would have won. No joke. You guys have yet to face any serious political challenges. The Clinton people suuuucked at politics.

Being censored works in your favor more than anything because the far right has always been good at starting shitstorms and then playing the victim (see: Charlottesville), and censoring you guys makes you actual victims to an extent. Most left wing morons don’t understand this.

???? The right showed up to speak at an event. The police failed to do their job and keep groups separate (prehaps a stand down order from the jew and black nationalist mayor) The right was attacked as they walked into the park. Unless you are saying having an opinion is "starting shit".

I've cleared this misconception up at least 3 times. There is zero evidence that the dodge challenger made physical contact with the landwhale Heather Heyer. That fat girl you see flying in the green shirt was not Heather, but a different fat girl. Heather was wearing a black shirt.

Her mother is on camera saying she died of a heart attack and "didnt suffer".
