Old enough to be like "omg 30 is close" but young enough to shrug it off as being "a few years away still".

This "oh god, i'm almost thirty and my life isnt' in order" thing is getting old to our whole generation. It's not to say it's not relevant, but supposedly we're supposed to have our shit together by now.

My "omg" comes more from an immature view of "When I was a kid, 30 seemed really old and now I'm almost 30".

I do think by 30 most people want to have sorted themselves out for their own benefit though. Not always possible though, and as I said in the other post a couple of weeks back different people mature and grow at different rates. What's normal for one person, isn't necessarily so for another.

I think it has more to do with situation rather than maturity. I see people owning their own house who still act like children, but adults who work hard, work smart, etc, can't get a leg up.

How old are you?

A lot of the media that I find "nostalgic" is older than the dinks that I argue with on reddit about said media.

My first Gametalk post is older than some kids that have iPhones now.

The number of years that I've been on 4chan is greater than the number of years between 4chan being founded and when I first saw it.

I actually have my shit together mentally for the first time. It's coming together physically too, just slowly because I had to start from rock bottom.

I've noticed people seem to have things at least mostly figured out in their 30s. They may not have the house/white picket fence thing, because people have different life goals.

I swear every time i think i do, i end up with another setback. To be fair, at least my outlook on life is more positive than when i was on gametalk: i thought i'd starve to death by 19.

27.

Being older is what it is.

But ever since I was 18 I've been somewhere new and challenging myself in different ways every 1 or 2 years. I'm enjoying graduate school, and I feel really fortunate my long-time goal to do it has landed me in such a unique institution.

I've chosen who I want to spend my life with, but we're still apart most of the time, and I really should start to save money and develop my career, so this next year is going to take place in that transition.

I think I'm 26.

I don't like when people complain about getting old. Especially at 30. Some of the greatest athletes in the world are 30 or older. The alternative to being old is being dead - so be grateful.

I'm 27 as well. It does feel a little weird that I'm closer to 30 than I am to 20, and it's not especially close. At what point are you no longer considered "young"?

Feels like it wasn't that long ago that I was 22. The last four years of full-time employment have gone by very, very quickly.

Honestly I still feel like i'm in my 20's but then I remember I turned 21 the same year Halo 2 came out which then makes me feel depressed.

24 here. Scrabbling to finish up school and get my life together by 26-27 will report what happens when that day comes.

I'm 27. I don't feel that old honestly and I still feel like I have a long way to go. I have a test to do for a government job next week over 500 miles away. Here's hoping I can move on and then do graduate school while working the job and finding a place to live too (woo!).

I find it funny when my friends or girlfriend say they feel old when they are all younger than me. "I feel old" and I feel like saying "Dude, you're 25."

I’m not sure kohlrak’s meaning was translated well though.

Try selling alcohol to customers. :/ lolz, I got the question if I was old enough to work and it’s like “dude, I wouldn’t be here then.” Do you see the dilemma? Ugh, I hate customer service. People can speak your minds freely but we just smile and take it all in with a grain of salt. Sigh

I rediscovered mine relatively recently. After starting my physical health improvement a few years ago, the spiritual side has come along as well. I have a drive to create things like I haven't had since I was in my single digits.

Oooh that sounds so appealing! Can you tell me more? I know that physical fitness has like a bajillion mental health benefits. Would you say that’s the most key factor (in your experience)?

Yeah I've been getting that too. What's the cutoff between "You seem older" being a compliment and "You look younger" being a compliment?

Is anyone here young enough to remember what intrinsic motivation feels like?

I went through a period of literal starvation and homelessness (and some rough times around that block of time too) and boy have my goals sharpened.

After about 23-24, I noticed a marked increase in the number of people that call me "boss", usually non-whites that are older than me.

It makes me feel awkward.

"Boss" is an old southern term of respect. Doesn't mean you're literally their boss.

I know...it still has a kind of connotation that I'm not completely comfortable with. I know people mean it well, though, so it's not really a problem.
