This god damned piece of **** keeps re-appearing on my taskbar and telling me "Oh did you know how much better I am than that browser you are using LOLOLOLOLOL!"

I have half a mind to just remove it from me PC just to shut it up.

I use Edge on my laptop just because I can't be arsed to install anything else and it technically works. Given that I only use it for checking GT, YouTube and 4chan, it's fine.

I attempted to use it when doing away with Chrome. It would not remember my bookmarks/favorites so I decided to install Firefox. I've been happy with Firefox.

I've seen that re-appear in new accounts I create for users and for my personal system. I also saw it appear when I finally did the creators update (which i am surprised my computer isn't on fire yet).

It's not very good imo. If i have to use a browser that isn't Firefox for Chrome, I just go find IE 11

Yea that's the thing that gets me. Edge was supposed to be Microsoft's successor to IE, and yet I find myself using IE whenever I want to use a Microsoft browser... I just don't understand how they could get it so wrong.

But honestly I wouldn't mind it being there if it would just keep quiet. It's pretty annoying to be told how it's apparently 13% faster than Chrome or whatever statistic it wants to tell me on that particular day.

This is the thing I hate about MS in general. I wouldn't be so salty about having to use windows for everything if windows would just let me make my own damn decisions. I know my wants and desires better than microsoft. It should not harass me to change my mind if it wants me to continue using any of it's products.

I mean, this is the first time I have felt like Microsoft are pestering me to use their products. Everything else I use I have never had this kind of harassment from it.

It's not just products. Not happy with windows updates constantly updating when you need to reboot quick so you have enough RAM to open up a program and write your report or something? Turn it off. Oh hey! You there! Windows updates is off! You should totally turn it on, because we know you didn't want it off since "on" is the default setting.

Oh, we heard you haven't set up your msn messenger account yet. Would you like to, now? We saw you tried to uninstall MSN messenger, but we made sure to interrupt that process to ensure you don't do something we know you don't actually want to do.

Did you know that microsoft sells office tools, for spreadsheets and the like that can edit this file? If not, now you do. Now, would you like to buy and install now? No? Well, i'll ask you again in 5 minutes incase you change your mind.

I could go on, but what's the point?

Maybe I missed where you said it but have you gone into your default settings and set IE, Chrome or Firefox as your default browser?

Yea Chrome is my default.

Basically this message will appear if Edge is on your taskbar, then if you open Chrome a little message bubble pops up from the Edge taskbar icon telling you how it is "better" than Chrome.

The issue is Edge seems to re-add itself to my taskbar every so often (probably after major updates like the recent Creators Update). I suspect even if I uninstalled it, these updates would just add it back.

I have nothing against them including it, just the fact that it pesters me to use it.

How little RAM do you have? Or are you just using a dated example because you have nothing recent?

Also: while I get where these sorts of complaints about Windows updates come from. I have never once had them be an issue. At most I have to do a couple updates on a reboot and it doesn't really take long.

But also what's the alternative? If you let the general masses decide for themselves they would never update their PCs and miss out on essential security updates.

1. MSN Messenger doesn't even exist anymore. So another dated example???

2. I never once saw any kind of messages about this when it was thing.

Again not something I have ever seen and I just use free alternatives like LibreOffice.

That's something that annoys me. It just up and disappeared one day and I had some contacts on there that are now gone.

I thought they transferred everything over to Skype so if you sign in it'll keep them?

Honestly I have never tried Skype as I have never had a reason to. Maybe I will soon to see if they are there.

MS has been having unresolved RAM leaks for a while now. It's been getting better, it should not happen at all.

Also: while I get where these sorts of complaints about Windows updates come from. I have never once had them be an issue. At most I have to do a couple updates on a reboot and it doesn't really take long.

Should not happen at all. I know what i'm doing, and i know that i did it on purpose.

But also what's the alternative? If you let the general masses decide for themselves they would never update their PCs and miss out on essential security updates.

This goes back to, is it MS' job or the customer's job? If they disable automatic updates, they should be aware of what it is they're doing. It's their choice, not MS'.

Doesn't matter: it's representative of them trying to shove products down your throat. They did not have a major change of policy, so it's still relevant, even if this particular example doesn't happen anymore.

2. I never once saw any kind of messages about this when it was thing.

Maybe you don't remember? I do. I ended up using it later, anyway. But, that was my choice, not because microsoft pestered me to do so. To be fair, it didn't say it was interrupting the dinstallation process, but try getting rid of it.

Again not something I have ever seen and I just use free alternatives like LibreOffice.

I used to, but now i don't even bother opening the files. I think it was tied to a program that let you view powerpoints, specifically, but wouldn't let you edit them. It's been a while since i've actually had to use that type of software. I would like this Q drive (installation partition for Microsoft office) to disappear, though, given that it doesn't exist.
