Black Panther Trailer
Posted: Posted October 16th, 2017 by S.O.H.
Looks great! Admittedly I would have preferred Micheal B Jordan as black panther but this works too!

This is the first time in a long time where I am looking forward to 2 consecutive marvel movies. Thor 3 looks great and this looks great as well.

I am not sure if we talked about it but here is the Punisher trailer as well:
Looks pretty sweet. I hope it doesnt turn out to be shit like the last handful of marvel shows.

And last but not least the New Mutants trailer
this looks pretty sweet.

it looks great, but... are they seriously doing the "evil version of the hero as the villain" again???

i've never met a fan of iron monger, justin hammer, abomination or yellowjacket

it works in the context of the marvel films though.

In the comics or just in general? I havent heard much praise for any of the marvel villians. Out side of king pin and that one guy from jessica jones.

...I actually liked the Justin Hammer/Whiplash team up in Iron Man 2. I don't think it ultimately handled it all that well, but I thought they were, by Marvel movie standards, a lot more interesting as villains than most of them outside of Loki (in Thor movies) and Baron Zemo in Civil War (who didn't ultimately get enough time either).

Why I think it could work here, though, is that Erik Killmonger once took over Wakanda while T'Challa was off doing Avenger-y things (an aspect to T'Challa that is frequently the source of conflict in Wakanda). Not sure if you're familiar with Black Panther lore, but the mantle is taken up specifically in context of being King of Wakanda (or Queen, as happened a few years ago with T'Challa's sister). Since the power comes from their god, and the Black Panther represents both religion and government, if Killmonger is going to try to take over Wakanda at some point in the film, it would make sense to take up some version of the Black Panther suit for what it represents to the people of Wakanda.

I don't anticipate it being pulled off super well, since this is Marvel and they don't tend to want to get too serious ever (I'm still excited for Thor Ragnarok, but it is starting to look like it'll have the typical Thor problem of too many jokes), but the context for it here makes more sense to me.

Like, it'll make a ton of contextual sense if Killmonger attempts to take over rule of Wakanda, in part because there is growing discontent among sections of the nation. He would want to dawn some form of the Black Panther suit to rally support because of it's cultural significance in Wakanda. Whether they add that aspect to the movie or not, I dunno. But I see it as making more sense here than, say, Abomination, who was pretty much there because Hulk doesn't actually have that many villains he can get all punchy-punch smashy-smash with. (I actually kiiinda liked Tim Roth's Abomination, too, but I'm one of these weirdos who unapologetically liked The Incredible Hulk.)
