Those who haven't been following. They fired Colin Trevorrow a bit back, rumours (aka "insider sources") suggest it's because they found him difficult to work with and didn't really like what he was doing, and everyone was wondering who would be brought in.

Well it's Abrams. He did a good job with Episode 7 so he's not a bad pick, hopefully he & whoever is writing don't turn this into a clone of Episode 6 though!

I find Abrams to generally be on the higher side of "medicore," so this is a perfect fit for the Disneyfication of culture.

Ugh. Would have preferred to have kept Trevorrow. Abrams is too much of taking older movies and regurgitating them (Star Trek Into Darkness being a bad rehash of Wrath of Kahn, The Force Awakens being somewhat similar to A New Hope).

Making a reply stating you're not going to say it, is basically the same as saying it.

One Vision, One Purpose!

Well visually Episode 7 worked. So hopefully once he's given a script that is very fresh and by this point very removed from episode 6, it should be a good stand alone film.

Episode 7 needed to reignite the love for the franchise and get people excited for the new trilogy. Did Disney reuse the same plot elements as previous films? Yes, but that doesn't mean it was bad. It recalls on the franchise's glory days while adding something of its own into the mix.
