People not including anyone form of Dragonball in their list are trolling, you know that was the anime that got you into anime in the first place..

I really don't watch much anime and thus I'm refraining from even making a list here, but having something get you into anime doesn't mean it remains your favorite. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it has to be the best thing ever or even near the best.

I haven't watched anything either until I binged watched Kuroko's Basketball recently. Absolutely loved it and I'm not one for sports usually. I doubt I'll watch Haikyuu (Volleyball) but there's so much praise on it.

Sailor Moon is a great anime but it suffers from repetitive animation syndrome like digimon. Lazy artists.

As much as Chinese Superman got me into anime, it's painfully basic and I actually hate a lot about how the anime is put together. The pacing is especially grating.

Are we going to have another bullshit OoT/MM argument?

No. I mean literal shot-to-shot pacing. It's so fucking slow but it does so little to get me hype.

No, I'm just saying give DB the respect it deserves.

This is "top 5 favorite anime", not "top 5 anime that someone else thinks deserves respect".

I've always considered Akira's style to be a little weak. The only DB character that I really like visually is Android 18.

In terms of visual design, Bleach absolutely blows DB out of the water.

I like 18 (and 17) as well. He drew her and 17 with a different style though. He should go outside his comfort zone more often.

Yeah but I used to watch it a lot and enjoyed it, until I didn't because of it's bullshit.

In fact, I'd replace it with Yuyu Hakusho.

Honorable mentions would be Hunter x Hunter, Toradora, Ore Monogatari, Barakamon, Konosuba, Haikyuu, JoJo Part 4, Katanagatari and Shinsekai Yori.

But I've yet to see a lot of other shows that I'll likely love.

    Same here as well.

    I think mine would be:

    4. Death Note
    3. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
    2. Bleach
    1. Gintama

I had trouble coming up with a #5, but then it dawned on me that if a fifth one didn't immediately spring to mind then there probably aren't any other anime shows I've seen that deserve to be in my top 5. Granted, I haven't seen all the shows that a lot of people would consider must-sees, like Cowboy Bebop or FMA Brotherhood.

I'll give Umaru-chan an honourable mention.

fucking christ I hated that anime. Most over hype shit ever. I could understand AOT it had some really cool moments and its one of the first anime that ive seen that had entire teams of people get slaughtered and Levi is pretty rad but SAO is just normie dog shit.

Sword Art Online had an amazing concept and everything else about it blew. It could have been handled so much better. The protagonist is just, op as fuck from the beginning and isn't that likable. Kirito?

Hey, @SOH. Not everyone has seen Attack on Titan aka me. Thx for the spoiler. I'm still probably going to watch it. Waiting for season 3. I'm going to read it first tho.

@Jo Nathan: Did you hear that Netflix is getting a Death Note on a different take? I'm on my phone. I'll post a trailer of it tomorrow.

sounds about right. It was somewhat entertaining until it revealed its main purpose was to be a bland love story between two awful characters who have no flaws.

I waited for the new season of AoT because I figured it might give them a chance to resolve the things I disliked about the start. Like, maybe the manga plot didn't really fit neatly into a season's worth of episodes (since you want to end on some kind of resolution, especially if you might not get another). And then I'm pretty sure the new season exacerbated all those problems instead.

"lots of people die" isn't really a spoiler, and it's not like the show waits very long to start killing them

its not really a spoiler. It shows people dying in the trailer. FFS. I also believe it shows people dying in the opening scene/ first 2 minutes of the 1st episode.

Wow. I didn't even think of these as anime because I watched these when I was so young that I didn't know what anime was. Yeah, I watched Pokemon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, Yu-Gi-Oh and probably some others before I saw DBZ.

Yeah i havent seen the trailer or I just don't remember. I really need them to continue Blue Exorcist. I can't believe they left it where it is.

Sailor Moon, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and DBZ got me into Anome. I haven't watched too match DBZ tho. I saw it on Toonami. Oh, and Pokemon on Sat mornings i believe it was.

    tbh

Sailor Moon, Pokémon, and DBZ were all just morning cartoons to me (I distinctly remember pouring myself a bowl of cereal, wondering why Goku and Cell had to spend so much time screaming at each other while charging attacks). I didn't think of them as anything different, which is why I wouldn't really credit them as "getting me into anime." To me, that's more for shows I watched and ended up looking for more of the sort. Friend recommendations, internet searches...more than just "hey this is on TV and it's more entertaining than other stuff that's on."

same. I rewatched, Rurouni Kenshin , Dragon Ball z , Shaman King and Digimon as an adult and I still loved them. Hence why they are on my list. The one anime that did make me want to revisit them however was Naruto.
