Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather set for Aug 26

What started out as a joke has actually come to fruition. I thought it would happen after it caught on, but I cannot believe how quickly this happened.

Every part of me knows that McGregor will lose. But a part of me hopes for the crazy upset. Happy for him to make his money, though.

Mayweather is supposed to win. The disparity in boxing skill should be obvious. The only thing that makes me worry on his behalf, is the size of McGregor. I haven't heard what weight Mayweather will be fighting at, but McGregor has fought in the 145 range recently, which is a range at which Mayweather tends to look more sluggish then in the 130's and lower. If Mayweather fights at a heavier weight, in addition to him being a few years older, and the possibility that he may just be here because he's going broke, may cause for this fight to be closer than it is supposed to be.

McGregor hasn't fought at 145 in a good while and looks like a skeleton to make the weight. They will be fighting at 154 lbs.

Neither of these men is at risk of being broke, so I don't know what you mean. Floyd is probably near a billionaire and Conor's last several fights were multi-million dollar fights.

EDIT: so just read some reports about Floyd running out of money back in February of this year. Not sure I believe that, though.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. He has made a ton of money, but he spends in such a ridiculously lavish fashion, on many depreciating assets like (multiple) private jets and luxury cars, in addition to owning multiple expensive properties for which property taxes must add up (if he pays them). I even have heard reports that he doesn't wear the same pair of shoes or underpants twice, buying new ones every few days. Even if he is still rich, he probably has some disturbing financial projections for the future at his current spending rate.

But in any case, 150+ pounds is pretty huge for Mayweather. It may actually prove to equalize the odds.

PS: @ McGregor @ 145 my bad I meant historically. To emphasize how much bigger of a size he can fight comfortably at, whereas Mayweather looks most comfortable at 135 ish.
