Who Won E3?
Posted: Posted June 13th, 2017 by S.O.H.

Out of the big 3 who had the best direct?

I would say the gamers won but a lot of the games shown this year just look mediocre at best.

Codevein looks neat though.

No one won. Gamers lost.

Nintendo was alright.

We got rocket league confirmed, and a new kirby and yoshi game. In addition, a 3D Switch RPG pokemon game and Metroid Prime 4 are in the works at least. A bit bummed for no smash 4 port news(or at least not yet), and no other third party titles other than ones we know already. sigh.

It seems as if every conference had a couple "ooo, that's pretty neat" games, a few "ehh" games, and then a handful of "where?" afterwards.

EA, Microsoft and Ubisoft had some games that caught my attention. I don't have a PS4 so I've not bothered to watch Sony's yet... Bethesda was disappointing. Nintendo was disappointing and they've actually decreased my interest in the new Mario game.

Metroid won E3.

I think people are mostly bummed that we didn't learn much this year that we didn't already know about. But there will always be ebb and flow with this sort of content.

For me the announcement of an Ori sequel was the best moment in E3... I remember in chat we were all kinda like joking at the guy coming on and playing the piano and then when the trailer started with that very distinctive art style I was like... Omg this is Ori and I realised why they'd got the composer out to play the piano :P

And wasps. Don't forget the wasps.

Posted June 13th, 2017 by Vandy

lol yea, I can sorta see how Jet misread that but it was still funny.

Posted June 13th, 2017 by Moonray

It's more about the phrasing for me. "And there will be wasps" sounds like some kind of horror movie or action movie tagline. A direct contrast to Ori, and wisps.

Hey, man. They pulled out just at the title screen for some reason, so you could only see the title from the camera aimed at the whole stage. And I was watching in this forum's stream on a little Chromebook! It legitimately looked like, "There Will Be Wasps!"

Which makes no sense as a title, of course. Which is probably why they didn't call it that. But I am available for hire if anyone ever wants me to name things for them.

I was extremely impressed with nintendo's direct but can't compare them to the others because I don't know squat about anyone else.

Well destructoid as of late has been acting an awful lot like polygon and kotaku in terms of having whiny bitches with terrible opinions for writers so I have a difficult time respecting anything they have to say anymore. (side note: mostly just the drivel steve hansen puts out but also jonathan holmes to an extent)

But honestly, just the mere confirmation that Metroid Prime 4 is happening coupled with a 2d Metroid game is enough to tempt me into giving Nintendo the win. I revere Metroid as much as I do Zelda, maybe even more.

shaddup. You know its true e_e

Jk its just a poll that was taken on destructoid's website. Not a large sample size I bet, so gonna be some bias probably.

I don't care who won E3 per se, and I only care about games for Nintendo. At least in regards to their conference and what not, we got at least 5 new 1st party games announced(and 3 revealed), and they are a yoshi, kirby, metroid remake on 3ds, metroid prime 4, and a 3d rpg switch game.
