NIFE Subtext System

This is a system that allows you to change what a room looks like depending on room properties, player properties, and the game round.

To use it, just use [subtext][/subtext] tags surrounding whatever text you want to either show or hide depending on whether its properties are true or not.

Below is a list of everything this system can do:

Player-specific Subtexts

Traits

[subtext player trait:Doctor]
This piece of text shows up if the player has the "Doctor" trait.
[/subtext]

[subtext player notrait:Doctor]
This piece of text shows up if the player doesn't have the "Doctor" trait
[/subtext]

Classes

[subtext player class:Team]
This shows up if the player has the "Team" class (regardless of whether it's set to anything)
[/subtext]

[subtext player noclass:Team]
This appears if the player *DOESN'T* have hte "Team" class (I guess they're switzerland?)
[/subtext]

[subtext player class:Team:Alien]
This piece of text appears if the player's "Team" class is set to "Alien".
[/subtext]

Stats

[subtext player stat:Health]
This appears if the player has a stat called "Health".
[/subtext]

[subtext player nostat:Health]
This shows up if the player *doesn't* have a "Health" stat.
[/subtext]

Stat values

[subtext player stat:Health<10]
This appears if the player's "Health" stat is below 10.
[/subtext]

[subtext player stat:Health=50]
This appears if the player's "Health" stat is equal to 50.
[/subtext]

[subtext player stat:Health>60]
This shows up if the player's "Health" stat is greater than 60.
[/subtext]

[subtext player statmax:WHATEVER]
Same as the above "Stat Values" section, except you use "statmax" instead of "stat" and it measures the maximum value of the stat. You can totally do things like:

[subtext player statmax:Health>100]
Your maximum health is really high!
[/subtext]

[/subtext]

[subtext player statgain:WHATEVER]
Same, but it measuers the stat "gain" amount.
[/subtext]

Non-player Subtexts

[subtext room WHATEVER]
Replace WHATEVER with any defintion in the "Player-Specific Subtexts" section above and it will measure the properties of the room itself. (This will be more useful with the Machines update).
[/subtext]

[subtext game round:>5]
Shows up if the round is greater than 5
[/subtext]

[subtext game round:=10]
Shows if the round equals 10
[/subtext]

[subtext game round:<15]
Shows if the round is less than 15.
[/subtext]

WHERE TO USE

  • You can put these codes in individual room templates (either pre-renders or actual posts, it doesn't matter)

  • Stick them in global templates too if you want. (Like have some subtext for *all* rooms.)

  • If you want to be able to use them anywhere else, let me know, the system is pretty flexible like that.

  • Also if you want to be able to reference more than the above properties, let me know (also very flexible there)
