Where the past still shines

My time on Gametalk (2003)

I discovered Gametalk around mid 2003. I was only a preteen back then. This was at a time before smart phones were invented, I was living with my parents, there was only one computer in my house that we had to share and we had a dial-up modem, which meant that our internet was slow and unreliable.

Man,I was absolutely hooked on this site, and I wasn't exactly sure why. I think it's because I loved talking about video games, and also that I just enjoyed the basic novelty of chatting to people online in general. I was here on a frequent, if not daily basis. There were only a few forums I was active on: Pokemon R&S version, Harry Potter 2 for PC, and the pointless forum.

There are a few people I recall talking to back then on the pointless forum, including: Solar Boy Django, Nicscool, Axem Cupola Sad, Wonderboy, ~*Faye*~, just to name a few.

Another thing I remember was that "message-abody" text. I don't know what that was about.

Probably my funniest memory was all the times I got banned from the pointless forum by Denida. I have no idea how many in total, but because I was so young I would often get into petty arguments with people and I would take it so seriously and get overly offended. So I would retaliate by cussing or impersonating the other person, which resulted in me getting banned over and over again. I can laugh about that today.

I left around late 2004, simply because there came a point where I had forgotten about the website completely. Back then I started dealing with normal teenage issues with myself and school that happens with pretty much everyone. I just grew up and found other things to become invested in.

So that's my little story. I'd love to hear from you peeps though if you used GT at such a young age and if you had similar experiences.
