A patch just came out that apparently significantly fixes framerate in some areas

For both Wii U and Switch.

People on neogaf are reporting really noticable improvements, especially in the Great Plateau area, fighting moblins, korok forest, and other areas.

I haven't tried it myself, but I'll check in a few hours. Feel free to test it out yourselves guys!

I don't know how much improvement is the wii u version, but its pretty significant for the switch version apparently.

oh neat

an update downloaded while I was playing earlier, but I was about to quit so I just had it install afterward and I haven't touched it since. Was gonna see if I could find out what it was for (since if they've decided to be cool and actually give patch notes for their goddamn updates, I haven't found where).

Here is where you can find patch notes: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/25568
Knowing Nintendo, they haven't ever detailed what they fixed other than, "stability" update or "Adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience," including this patch.

yeah, not helpful...thanks nintendo

that's basically what every single patch for any game should do

it's probably just a non-technical catch-all for shit like loading/framerate stuff, but it could also be "we got tired of everyone whining about weapon durability everything lasts longer now, also octoroks are less accurate and thunderstorms happen less frequently"

Its gonna take a bit until we find out what got fixed besides framerate. A few people have said that the resolutions for shadows are less sharp now(which could have helped with the frame rate).

I'm looking forward to digital foundry testing this.

video from gamexplain's observations on the framerate.

We'll probably get something from DF in the coming days..

NX Gamer came out with a framerate video to compare pre patch vs post patch for handheld and docked mode and shows the frame rate numbers like what DF would usually do.

Looks great!

Digitial Foundary finally makes a video on the patch. They sa there's a 20% improvement for the switch version where frames in the previous version averaged 25fps, and its now 29fps.

Doesn't seem to be a noticable increase on the Wii U version though.
