Due to questions about OOG I have now setup (and you can test) a sort of in game OOG.

Every character now has a commlink and by default you are on channel 1. There are four public channels, in order to swap channel you must use ONE manual action. You will then swap channel at the end of the round.

You may also create private channels. To do so just say something like "Creates private channel Alpha" (name must be unique). To share access to a private channel use a manual action to share access. Anyone with access can share access, so be careful who you share with.

You may only be in one Public Channel at a time, however for hosting simplicity you may be in multiple private channels at the same time.

Well this is pretty cool.

Hi, whoever else is on the channel.

@Moonray: should ghosts be able to access these? What about private channels? If so to either of those, should they be able to post?

Also if you want I could automate the following tasks:

  • switching public channels inside public channel threads
  • creating a new private channel inside probably your NIFE CP would be best.
  • Inviting people into your private channel
  • kicking them out.

    There's a lot I'd like to do with this kind of thing. We (you, me and other players) discussed it a lot during adventure and NIFE already offers the ability to do everything we wanted with it (it's just a bit convoluted and complex for some of the more interesting ideas).

    For now I'd like to leave it how it is for a few rounds, as I want to see what people start doing.

    However I definitely have some ideas and I think maybe turning it into its own feature within NIFE, with its own panel in the hosting CP, is the best way forward. I'll type up a post of my thoughts on what it should have either today or tomorrow.

    Also yes ideally ghosts should be able to see everything (minus host thread) but only able to talk in the ghost/dead thread. At least for this game, I'll include more thoughts on this too in the post I mentioned I'll be makong.

    Okay, works for me.

    Also @Moonray: since you can only.be in one public channel at a time (and there are several separate public channels), then you should really have a "Commlink" class with different channels as values. Traits are better for values that aren't tightly related together (like "Ensign").

    You can think of classes like the old adventure's "Role" setting.

    Also maybe worth pointing out that there will probably be a "Secret Club" feature sitewide at some point during the automafia building process so it might be more convenient to just hook into that (then again, you might want to keep it separate).

    Important Update

    After observing how the game runs on NIFE I have decided to add an additional win/lose condition.

    Humans
  • Do NOT allow any aliens to escape with you.

    Aliens
  • If one or both of you escapes on the escape ship (with or without the humans) then the humans will automatically lose.

    I believe there are sufficient objects and abilities in the game world that this is still a balanced option. If you wish to discuss this change please post objections/concerns/thoughts in the main thread.

    Just so everyone knows, I am human.

    And since to me this game has become very boring I am going to camp out somewhere and if you need me let me know.

    I've been running around like a lab rat in a maze trying to find the piece of cheese that's never there. Hope you guys are having better luck finding the parts needed for the shuttle because I haven't found any at all

    I sure wish you could enlighten me.

    Someone set a trip wire on the door leading from the Security Station to the Engine room and I tripped it and was hit with a blaster. Won't know until the end of the round if I survived and was just wounded.

    I went in there to see if anything in there could be used to fix the shuttle.

    Does anyone know what happened to Helius? He's dead.
    oh, thanks for pointing that out - Vandy's death was announced in the update that shows up everywhere, so I didn't even think to check the player list.

    as for your question: I don't know specific details since I can't see his actions and their results, but I did happen to see him last round so I can be pretty sure about his cause of death. It was basically suicide, though I can't really say whether it was intentional or a clever plan gone awry.

    Don't know if it's true, but Helius said the Chemical D would ID anyone that's a Alien.
    I got the chance to test an alien DNA sample and received the same bit of information he shared, so I'd take it as the truth.

    If anyone has any of this then maybe we should meet some where and test ourselves or see who don't show up for the meet.
    and that's the sticking point, as far as I can tell. I checked the research lab a little while back and all of it was gone. So unless someone still has it and will share with the class (or if you can get it from them), we might be out of luck :\


    on a related note, chief, you said something a while back that I was curious about:
    Then imo there should be a way to help humans to id Aliens. I.E. A hidden note with their names, smell, etc.

    Because right now I suspicious of the person that killed Vandy with out any explanation.

    Early in the game I found a note which read:

    Mysterious Note This note appears to have been written by one of your shipmates. It reads:

    "I've killed Commander Shepard and sabotaged the Bridge. The ship is stuck on a course for our homeworld."

    Unfortunately you can't tell who wrote it or who it was intended for.


    This is what lead me to believe that there may be a note, log or something that would have the name of who wrote the note. Or one with instructions to his fellow Aliens.

    Obviously I can't go into detail on this until the game is over (even if you do figure it out yourself). But there is a reason why one death was announced and the other was not.

    that note sounds like it's more of a backstory kind of thing then, explaining that dead NPC and the condition of that room. From what you said, I thought you actually saw someone attack Vandy - I don't know anything about what happened there other than the location of his body (which was made public anyway).

    But there is a reason why one death was announced and the other was not.
    oh, interesting. I didn't mean for that to sound like a complaint or anything, btw.

    y'know, I actually don't know what you dodos locked me up for. Maybe I'm the Space Godfather, that'd be neat. Run a family-owned waste-disposal-via-black-hole company.

    That's a nice intergalactic transport vessel you've got there. Beautiful craftsmanship, love the atmospheric stabilizers. It'd be a real shame if something were to happen to it.


    ah, legitimate business. But I'm not an alien, and the only death I know anything about is Doctor Helium's. Walked into a room, saw his actions, decided that was not a place I should hang around.
