Saw Castor tonight - noticed right away that it was a double star - OR IS IT??? I tried to take a picture of it, but I wasn't having any luck. Still here's a stock image of what it looked like:

And here is an artist dramatized rendition up close:

Yup that's right. Turns out Castor is a sextuple star system. Of course its other four aren't nearly that bright. They're red dwarf flare stars.

Two other stars identified by my telescope tonight were Capella, which is actually a quadruple system, and Menkalinan (Beta Aurigae) which really is a double star.
