After much fucking around on Blizzard's part, we finally get our first look at Sombra, a stealth/offense character who specializes in hacking (disrupting enemy abilities).

Basically, it's time for me to stop playing support.

Love her design, and she looks like a lot of fun to play (can't wait to shutdown coordinated ults with her own).

PTR will be out tomorrow to give her a shot. I'm a little worried that her presence will change the game drastically. This is honestly a bit biased, since I play Lucio more than anything and she's a direct counter to him, but also to Zarya, Zen, Rein, even Winston. Mercy won't be able to GA, so not really a counter, but a huge annoyance. At the least, she will be an absolute monster in the correct hands. The first stealth oriented character in the game is also a silence, mixed with shield negation. RIP, Zarya/Zen

She does sound like an almost mandatory pick with her current ability set. Impressions I've read are that she's pretty damn useful.

I'm not keen on invisibility being in this game though.

Guess we'll see how she fits into the current meta.

I would have been cool with her invisibility if it wasn't on a 6 second cooldown. Meh.

Yeah, with the amount of Lucio+Zarya picks for the past few months, she will be played all of the time for sure. I mean, even after the introduction phase. Ana stopped being played as much after 1-2 weeks; wasn't until the huge Nanoboost meta came out that she became such a high pick today, only 2nd to Lucio and perhaps Zarya.

Yeah, I didn't realise she was completely invisible. Thought it was going to be a cloak of some sort, where her outline "ripples" if you're close enough.

Still, early days. At least she can't attack while stealthed (or have a damage bonus when attacking from it), and it sounds like she's as squishy as Tracer. Definitely seems like a mandatory pick though, especially as she'd act as a direct counter to a handful of the meta picks (namely Zarya).

Her speed increase while invisible allows her to be almost anywhere. It does decloak upon: receiving or giving damage, or when using an ability. So, it has some SLIGHT limitations. I can see a nerf to the cooldown.

Blizzcon gameplay shows her ult builds pretty fast, too. I didn't know this at first, but all shields are gone for that 6 second duration: physical shields (Rein, Winston), boosted shields (Lucio's Sound Barrier, Symmetra's shield boost), as well as SHIELDED HEALTH. That means 200 health max for Zarya and 50 max health for Zen.

She's a bit tougher than Tracer (200 health), with similar mobility. The thing that really hits is that her Translocator can be used up to 15 seconds after placement. She could plant on a health pack, invis into backline, do her damage, than Translocate back to full health.

The worst part? She has a passive that allows her to see all enemies with less than 50% health. Think of it as an always-active Widow ult for easy kills. Ugh :(

Enemies can see the translocator, right? Can it be destroyed as well? I can imagine it being prime for someone like Junkrat to camp.

I have no problem with the ult killing shields, but doing so for shielded health should maybe only impact 50%? Or maybe Bliz should go back and fix the health/shield ratio of those characters.

That passive is pretty BS though, I agree. Probably wouldn't mind it so much if it just worked her general vicinity, but seeing them from across the map is overkill.

Sombra PTR is LIVE as of minutes ago.

Enemies can see the translocator, but can not destroy it. Junkrat would see Sombra miles before ever seeing her translocator; but yes, he could slap his mine and trap down for an instakill.

Her passive is most definitely some horse shit.

Also, good luck connecting. Geez :o

This is the weirdest part about her IMO. It seems so unnecessary considering all the other abilities she already has. Not to mention that it actually manages to make Widowmaker and Hanzo even more useless by taking away what little utility they had.

Have y'all played with/against her yet?

She is a huge pain for me. I play mostly support/tank, and a good Sombra is a death threat to whoever I'm playing. Hack takes out Rein's shield, so you CONSTANTLY have to be watching out for her. Ugh.
