Where the past still shines

Does 2016 feel any different from 2006?

It's funny because 1996 was almost nothing like 1986 but how similar or different is 2016 to 2006?

No, I was 12 in 2006, so I was still blissfully ignorant to most things.

I was a senior in high school and around the time, It wasn't that great for me and got even worse in 2007. I still think 2007 was the worst year of my life. I mean 2015 comes close but it still doesn't have anything on 2007. I think 2003 will always be the best year of my life, with 2010 coming close.

A lot has changed for me in those ten years. I was a freshman/sophomore in high school in 2006 (freshman in the spring, sophomore in the fall), still had yet to find GT (did that in the spring of my sophomore year). Now I'm working on my second college degree (an Associates this time around), I'm orders of magnitude more confident than I ever was in '06, and I've had to deal with losing my dad (he passed right around this time two years ago).

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. To write out everything that's changed for me in this particular decade would take about a novella's worth of space.

yeah I definatley prefer 2006. Though 06 did have a distinct lack of Zero Escape.

I don't know if I feel as though the world's changed, but I definitely have. In 2006, I was in 8th grade and found GT and became even more reclusive than I already was. In 2010, I had my first real life relationship, went off to college and the following year I fell into my long-term and still current relationship. In 2012, I lost my grandpa who was a huge supporter of everything I ever did. Sometimes I still breakdown over the feeling of losing the one family member who cared to see my success. In 2014, I graduated college and had a month to move out before my parents retired. It was either I grow up fast or move away with them and abandon everything I ever had. I chose to move out.

I'm still trying to figure things out, but I had to become very social very fast and get my life in order very fast. I had to become a fully independent adult a month after college and it was scary and I'm sometimes still bitter about it, but I also look at life with a sort of confidence I didn't possess during my reclusive youth when I spent all my time online.
