Game 43: Day 1

Welcome to Merryville!

The people emerged from their houses after a very long night. No one had really gotten any sleep, there was screaming coming from below the streets. The Cop and The Sheriff had all spent the entire night trying to find a way to reach the source of the screams, but were unsuccessful. They gave up and got some breakfast around 4 a.m. When they'd finished eating they started to head home... but they noticed a crowd gathered around a tree. It was Helius. That was the day the people in Merryville lost their merriness. Everyone dispersed when some strange man approached them professing that he was the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. The Cop and the Sheriff tried to arrest him, but he looked into their eyes, his eyes glowed purple, and they turned around and walked away.

    13. Count Dooku

    Learn the Roles
Townie - Has no special powers. Can only vote in main thread.

Cop - Every night has the ability to investigate another player. Gets an innocent or guilty verdict at the beginning of the next day round. Note: Cult Appears Guilty

Lovers - Two town-aligned players who know who each other are and have their own thread in which to communicate with. If one of them dies, the other dies as well. If one of them is recruited by the Cult, they leave their partner behind. Their partner will not be informed of their recruitment.

Doctor - Can choose a person every night to save. That person then become immune to all night actions.

Sheriff - Has one bullet that they can use to kill another player any time during the day round. When they do this, their role is revealed to the entire town.

Double Voter - Their vote counts twice. Has no other special powers and has no thread.

Commuter - They can go on vacation for a night. Doing this causes them to become immune to all night actions.

Newcomer - Every night, this person guesses the name of another player. If that person is mafia, then the newcomer gets to join the Godfather in the Mafia thread.

Marksman - Does not know who the other members of the mafia are. Has a single bullet they can use at any time during the day. When they use it, their role is NOT revealed.

Godfather - Is immune to the cult. Chooses someone to kill each night. Knows who the other members of the mafia are.

Cult - Starts off as one man professing to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. If he can figure out what someone's role is, they join his cult. The Cult wins when they have the majority of the numbers.

Survivor - Their goal is to survive, nothing else.

Day 1 ends at 12 a.m. Eastern Time.

There is a typo in the spoiler tag referring to the time limit. Please do not continue to talk in this thread once the round has ended, whether I have locked the thread or not.

Another mistake was made in a copy-paste from the host thread into this thread. Player number 11 is not me, it is Knuckles.

Also, in case you aren't aware, the Godfather appears innocent to the Cop.

    MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT

Yellow has apparently been stabbed in the hand. He is it is too much effort to type, but says he will be able to rejoin in 5 in real life days. I don't really know what to do about this situation, so I'd like to hear what you all think.

@Ghowilo, leave him in the game. Given a day round normally takes like 2ish days and then a night round 1 day he's likely only to miss two rounds.

I have a lot of hours this week but I'll do my best to remain active. My only two days off are Tuesday and Thursday. haha.

Looks like a pretty unique and potentially swingy setup. Although...unless I'm missing something, there's only one vanilla Townie this game?

Correct lancer. Ghowilo, I'm wondering if there's a limit on how often the Cult man can recruit someone, like once a night or something? If so a role reveal would still be pretty useful... If not then it would mean nearly automatic win for the Cult :P

there is no limit to how frequently the cult can recruit, and there is only one Townie. The cult must guess a players role correctly to recruit though.

I think this was part of Knuckles balancing scheme. Give almost everyone a role, but make it a bad idea for them to reveal.

This is just one reason and there are a lot more, that the Cult Role was suspended and should have stayed that way.

that the Cult Role was suspended and should have stayed that way.

Was it okay'd by FAW and hezekiah? I actually thought that the Cult role was suspended too, but then again I don't think the roles document has been updated in such a long time.

The role-guessing is not a standard cult variation. It was discussed and if I recall correctly no one had much of an issue with it.

The role-guessing seemed like a fair way to bring it back. Plus it needs experimentation anyway.

Hm. Well day 1 is always slow.

Yeah, I don't have much of a problem with the current variation of the Cult. It does seem like a good way to discourage a mass roleclaim by the Town this game.

Before, the Cult was a problem because they automatically recruited someone every single night (unless the target they chose was also Nightkilled). Now, it's not a guarantee they even grow past one.

Um, correct me if I am wrong, but if there is no limit on the cult leader's guesses, can't they just make a mass of posts right now with everyy possible combo of player and role, and automatically win the game?

That's one of the reasons why I stopped playing, but I'm willing to give it a go again.

Wait, the round is already ending? Where is everybody?! This is another reason I stopped playing too. v.v

Ghowilo replied: there is no limit to how frequently the cult can recruit...

Your answer to Thunder's innitial question is the exact opposite to your answer to mine. A host needs to be consistant, and not change the rules halfway through the game.

Feral, I'm pretty sure that he meant that there is no limit overall since he already clarified that there is a limit to how much the cult can recruit a night.

Basically, cult only gets to guess once a night. Thus they can only potentially recruit once a night.

Feral, the first time when he asked if they could guess once a night I and I said there is no limit, I was merely saying that the cult is able to post nightly, and that there is no reason for them to have to skip a night. I was referring to the frequency of guessing a name.

When I replied to you I was talking about how many people could be voted for in a single night. I did not view it as the same question as the one initially posed.

The town gathered back around where they had found Helius. They talked among themselves in mourning wondering who it could have been who did such a thing. They weren't able to figure anything out though and went their separate ways. The crazy man could be seen off to the distance talking to some homeless people around a garbage can fire.
