Xhin is listening.

One big issue that stands out is the rules are presented in a way that makes it easy for mods to enforce but not so easy for users to understand. We legitimately had a petition that got 6 signatures to put something in the ruleset that was *already in there twice*.

I don't understand how someone could look at the rules and not understand them.

"Don't do X... X includes [examples]"

It all seems very straightforward to me, the few who don't understand I would argue it's a problem with them rather than the rules.

You guys have done great with what you had to work with.

Ha, this is a classic Xhin line. I've had it a few times.

What's does "with what you had to work with". They rewrote the rules and added new ones, it seemed to me at the time like they didn't have any limitations imposed on them?

Anyway, my more serious less snarky advice would be leave the rules as they are. If you want to cover literally everything in writing then your rules are going to be massively long and complicated. The current form is fine, they list what is wrong, provide examples but don't rule out anything else that would fall into them.

My first question is why are you even making threads if you do not want replies that ARE on-topic. Simply stating they are off-topic does not make it so.

My second question is why did you pick this one instead of the more recent one which was presented better and apparently you also deleted the more recent one so I can't even fix it now so I guess we'll just have to live with this one. OH WELL!

I don't understand how someone could look at the rules and not understand them.

I also feel very strongly that this is the case. There is nothing difficult to understand about the current rules.

Also I edited to the title to be more accurate to what I am actually saying as your title was somewhat inaccurate to my point.

I wanted to point out the direction I was going in with my statement about the site rules. The actual point of the post was to announce the change decided by the petition (and then applied to the site rules in general after the admins decided it was a good idea).

The issue itself that the petition (and rules change) was meant to address was by far the worst thing that's ever happened on this site, so I want to keep the posts in that thread geared towards a final resolution of that so we can fully put that behind us and move on.

I realise I come across as a dick half the time in these posts but I find more and more that I need to in order to get a response. Gone are the days when everyone loved Moonray and would fetch him his golden throne at but a gesture :(

That serious point & joke aside:

by far the worst thing that's ever happened on this site

Look. I've been here since essentially the start, I know as much because my mod id number back in the days before GTX0 even had accounts for regular people was really low so I must have been one of the really early hires. So I hope you believe me when I say that nothing that happened in recent GTX0 is "by far the worst thing that's ever happened on this site".

It feels that way because the community is smaller and in a weird way I guess closer (everyone is familiar with everyone at the very least I would say). But we have had to deal with worse things in the past.

The issue itself that the petition (and rules change)

This brings up another question I have... Initially you presented the petition system as a way for rule changes to be applied to the World forum, yet somehow a petition about adding a rule to the world forum became about adding a global rule and also declaring the global rules inadequate because no one understands them?

I would say no this isn't true. The petition was about adding a rule to World, which we have been told does not follow the global rule list. Knuckles clearly did not realise his petition would become about the global rules. So I would suggest that he probably did know it was in the global rules or at the very least if he was linked to them he would have clearly identified it. But as noted, he wasn't asking for it to be a global rule so he likely never bothered to look at the global rules.

I would say this is probably true for those who voted for it to. Unless I have missed something major where they were all actually voting about global rules even though the petition system was explained as being about World rules.

Perhaps if you just explained exactly how you think the rules are broken/inadequate/complicated/whatever then I might grasp the problem.

Anyway, do what you want but you'd be wasting time to rewrite your rules :)

Also I realise you are going for a "my way or the high way" approach to the site lately but I would caution you from tagging people's stuff unnecessarily as you did (twice) with me trying to make the point in the OP. You will only end up alienating people. You can stand firm in your opinion without hiding everyone else's.

Also GTX0 did not like something about the above.

When I tried to post it as a reply I got:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function achi() in /var/www/html/gtx0.com/inc/chance.php on line 35

I had to post a reply saying "test" and then edit to and paste in the above to get it to work.

I think we’ve all posted on messages boards long enough to know what is generally acceptable. Whether anyone follows the rules is up to the individual

Discrimination should not be so openly accepted in any forum on GT, not even World.
