You ever have a random urge to play a game again even though you don't really know why and don't think it's a good idea?/saints

Idk why but there is something charming about saints row 3 I guess that makes me sorta want to play it again and by extension maybe actually finish 4 which I never got the chance to do for several reasons. One of the reasons being my computer couldn't handle it at the time. But ya I know that a lot of people prefer SR2 and that it's rather different. But for some reason none of the games seemed jarring to me when compared to the other (well maybe except 4 that took some strange turns but even then it wasn't very jarring at all). The details just aren't coming to me but basically I think the reason it might not be too jarring is the evolution of the saints and the protagonist. The end of sr leads to the changes in the saints and protagonist in sr 2 and that leads to changes in sr 3. At that point it sort of makes sense for them to be powerful (at least considering the game logic that was already around in sr2) and their focuses shift a bit. It's a drastic turn but for some reason one that doesn't feel like bad move to me.

I've talked about why I could appreciate all of the sr games collectively and not just separately before in much greater detail but it's not coming to me so that'll have to do I guess.

I get this urge with KOTOR2 a lot... And then I forget to install the skip the tutorial mod and get bored of the early asteroid prison section or I end up just end up using cheats to make myself really powerful and go "Why did I bother starting this if I was just going to cheat?". It's probably the nostalgia of the game calling me in to play it again but then modern me just wants to see flashy explosions and unwind after a day of work.

That said, I really do need to install the mod the restores all the cut content and give that a try.

If I were to only ever play one Saint's Row game, which one would you suggest it be? I've never actually played any of them.

Every time I listen to California by Mr. Bungle, my urge to play New Vegas again increases. I don't want to go back in, though, because the game's about as stable as a burning meth lab.

Yup. I had the urge to play Fallout 4 for a while. Then the feeling died off after about a month of playing it again

I really need to play that series sometimes by the sound of it.

I've done similar to that before.

Well I would say the first since the story evolves over time and doesn't just have different stories like with GTA but that would probably be boring in comparison to the 2nd and 3rd. Between the 2nd and 3rd personally I think it depends on if you prefer something a bit closer to realism or if you prefer ridiculousness. Personally I started with 3 and liked it but still liked 2. So one of those. If I have to choose one 3 but it may not be the best starting point for you.

I get the urge to play Zelda games all the time. Even when I haven't completed them. Even though I'm playing BotW I get the urge to finish Skyward Sword. I only got to like the 3rd area before the 3rd temple. That was like 6 years ago. Typically I'm always playing games for the first time so replaying a game that I already beat is decently rare for me. If I do want to play it again or see it I just get my wife to play it. There's something about introducing a game to someone with fresh eyes to play it.

I've played all of them and imo if there was any you should play I'd say the 2nd one. Playing the first would establish the story but the first is easily the worst one difficulty-wise. It was still trying to find its feet. That and the protagonist literally only says 4 lines of dialogue in the whole game. In the subsequent games they talk all the time. If you don't care about story, etc. and just want to have some insane fun then I'd say the 4th if you're into superpowers, etc. or the 3rd if you are into GTA style mayhem. But you may miss some references, etc playing the later games.

I get this urge with Morrowind a lot. And then after starting I realize I've played it so many times and know what's going to happen next, I find my self wondering why I started it again in the first place.

I do the same with Oblivion, Chief. Morrowind could really stand to have quick traveling. That would make the beginning much better for subsequent play throughs.

Oh, yeah. I replay the GBC/GBA Pokemon games and A Link to the Past all the time. Now and then I'll get an urge to play one of my other older games, like Super Mario RPG or Magi-Nation, too.

The games that I go back and play the most frequently are Final fantasy VII, VIII, Goldeneye, and Perfect Dark.

For me, it's weird. Chivalry? Unreal Tournament? Games I do play today, though sparingly.

I miss a lot of Nintnedo stuff that I used to play so much.

Zelda games up until Windwaker - I played them all multiple times including handheld ones. I would like to play them still but it just doesn't make sense for me now. I do listen to the soundtracks often, though, to scratch the itch.

Super Mario Sunshine tops my list. Until I play through it and start remembering all the reasons why I struggled with it so much.
