Why reject Iggy, Morton, and Lemmy?

Ever notice now Nintendo seems to favor Larry, Wendy, Roy, and Ludwig, and either ignore Iggy, Morton, and Lemmy, or else give them a smaller role?
First, you get Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Larry, Wendy, Roy, and Ludwig are in it, the other three are not. (Though in the Wii U version only Larry and Wendy appear, showing Nintendo favors those two even more, which is crazy coz Roy and Ludwig are my fourth and second favorite Koopalings, respectively, and Ludwig is a fan-favorite).
Though maybe Iggy, Morton, and Lemmy should be thankful because both versions have character restrictions for newcomers, teasing us in a cruel way. (I wanted to pair Espio, Wave, Blaze, and Tails in a four-player event!)
Second, Wendy, Roy, Larry, and Ludwig are each fought twice in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, while Iggy, Morton, and Lemmy are only fought once.
Third, I saw a Mario calendar that has a picture of Larry, Wendy, Roy, and Ludwig, but no Iggy, Morton, or Lemmy.
So why did Nintendo single out these four to be shown more than the other three? Ludwig at least is understandable because he's the most popular, and as much as I hate Wendy I can understand her coz she's the only female one, but Iggy and Lemmy are pretty popular too why are they so rare?
At LEAST they're all playable in Mario Kart 8, I always play as Iggy, Ludwig, Morton, or Roy. (I played as Luigi in my first Grand Prix where Iggy was the first character I unlocked, which was awesome coz he's my favorite Koopaling)
