Why the hell aren't the polls working? I spent ages making that poll and it didn't show up

I have not played lords of the fallen since launch. Bugs and choppy frame rate aside its a good game to play to get into the genre.

I have salt and sanctuary but have not had the time to sink down into it. Probrably never will unless they port it to the Switch.

I played salt at a friend's house. It was alright. Not too bad.

I’ve never been a big fan of the DS series, maybe someday I’ll get into it though.

My friends have tried too hard to get me into it. When people force shows, video games, or anything on me I tend to want to try it less. I usually wait until I get an urge to start. They gave me the controller and I admit I wasn't very good. It's even more annoying when people specifically tell you what to do instead of having you figure it out. That was like 3 years ago now. I'll get around to it when I want to.

I avoided Dark Souls for so long, and then slowly found myself addicted to watching videos of other people playing it and figuring that was good enough. It looked too hard and non-direct for my personal tastes.

And then two years ago I started the first game and have basically not stopped playing the series. It's not for everyone, and I understand why people can't get into it. I don't think it ever makes sense to try and force anyone to play anything, or judge them for not (lord knows, I'm never going to play half of the Zelda or Mario games).

I do tend to frame it like this though: if you are really interested in game design, I think you *should* play it. Maybe not to the point of completion, or log the 192 hours that I put into my first playthrough of Dark Souls II. But I think it is one of those games that you should check out at some point if design is a thing that interests you. If you don't really care about design, and just enjoy games that you find fun, I still think it offers an unreasonable amount of satisfaction to the patient players willing to die a lot and feel frustrated at times, but I wouldn't suggest you haaave to.

Oddly enough, though, I haven't gotten into any Souls-like games. I will check out Salt & Sanctuary at some point, and maybe even Nioh. But for now, the Dark Souls trilogy kind of provides me everything I want in a Souls-like game.

My favorite game simliar to the Dark Souls Series is Legend of Dragoon. I like the main characters clothing. I like the music in it. i like that its easy.

Strangely enough, though, I haven't played any Souls-like games. But for now, the Legend of Dragoon trilogy provides me everything I want in a Soulseque game.

A turn-based jRPG with sentai elements?

i like that its easy.

I don't remember that game being particularly easy. Grinding was a pain and attacks required QTEs.

But for now, the Legend of Dragoon trilogy provides me everything I want in a Soulseque game.

It's not a trilogy and it plays completely differently from Soulsborne.

they look the same in style to me. in terms of atmosphere and the armor the character has. and both being european settings. you probably havent played lod in a while but the city called hoax looks alot like the beginning of dark souls level. (i only watched a lets play dont know what its called) when i actally googled dark souls the images i found looked like it was from lod.

also its pretty easy if you just use the first addition since it only requires one qte. and you didnt have to grind at all if you only use a 2 member party and split the exp from bosses with two people. i cant be the only one who does this in rpg's right?

i know its not a triolgy in that its 3 seperate games, but the game is split into 3 parts and is in total about a 70 hour game to complete. The Seles campagin, the lloyd pursuit, and the finale (forgot the name)

Almost everything is split into 3 parts or acts. Trilogy is to say there's 3 stories, movies, or games. How was anyone supposed to know you didn't mean trilogy as trilogy? It's just highly confusing.

well its one story but it plays like a trilogy if that makes sense. kind of like how lotr is a trilogy but its one story, i didnt mean it to be confusing.

Mm-hm.

The first addition was very weak and still required timing. The entire fact that the basic attacks required QTEs every time was very out of place for a jRPG, which usually let you sit back and relax.

i know its not a triolgy in that its 3 seperate games, but the game is split into 3 parts

The three-act structure is the standard for dramatic media. A trilogy is a series of three products. Legend of Dragoon is one product.

kind of like how lotr is a trilogy but its one story

Lord of the Rings is actually six books that were published as three.

Crash Bandicoot or Cuphead

I wanted to respond with the pic I found of a Soulsborne-ified Cuphead game, but I can't find it. Sadness.

But seriously though, when did "providing an actual challenge" turn into "OMG SO FUKKIN HARD LOL".

it does look like dark souls, you just havent played it recently and pulling up random locations doesnt prove that its not. valley of corrupted gravity is not a good example

It has people using swords and sorcery. That's about it.

But when you cite random locations, you're right?

no but the location you post a image makes what i said look stupid because its just a bunch of rocks with floating stones and smoke.

I could've sworn this whole time "souls-like" meant the gameplay and not which games have some similar locations.

If that's the case, Paper Mario is similar to Resident Evil 4.

you think you are all being funny but its just annoying.. what does the word 'similiar' to you all mean? u think everyone thinks when someone ask if this game is similiar you think the same thing?

similar (adj.) marked by correspondence or RESEMBLENCE. i said it 'looks' in style to ds i didnt say anything about the gameplay

Edited January 30th by Brandy

I'm not being funny. Based on looks, Paper Mario has similar locations to the resident evil series. I'm pretty sure but I can't be 100% certain that Welsh_Gamer meant the gameplay and not what one looks like compared to another. An RPG and a strategic battle game don't have similar gameplay.

"you think you are all being funny but its just annoying.."

I feel like i'm funny.

"u think everyone thinks when someone ask if this game is similiar you think the same thing? "

Yes lol. Similar means same, twin, uniform, congruent, matching, corresponding.

There are more here: http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/similar
"i said it 'looks' in style to ds i didnt say anything about the gameplay"

Reading that would lead one to think you meant every aspect of the Dark Souls series is similar to Legend of Dragoon, not just the looks.

Perhaps you should be more specific from the beginning so people dont get confused on your meaning?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
