I always really liked hanging with Spaceman99, everything he posted was a wonder and extremely interesting and he reminded my of my grandfather. I definitely miss being able to just go on random particular game forums and ask about the games without some smart ass saying www.letmegooglethatforyou.com. People actually had discussions and shared their opinions, or their view of factual things, they didn't just expect you to be antisocial and look it up yourself. That goes for the whole internet really. People use to talk and now they just scoff at you if you don't know something.

Posting on Digimon World 3. I would spend hours going back to old threads to answer 3 week old questions.

Spending the bulk of my time on Depression and Pointless making very random threads about nothing.

True. I get tired of shit like that, or things that go against the spirit of the established forum. There's a subreddit called something like "whatever happened to...?" and it's where people can ask others what happened to a person, etc. Some people think it's funny to tell them to go on google and look.

From all the things I've seen about Spaceman or heard from others he would've been interesting to talk to. At that time in my life I wasn't so much into those subjects until I went into my early twenties.

I have a serious case of nostalgia googles for Digimon World 3. I havent played it in years (I am pretty sure I maxed out the number of hours you can play on that thing) and I have heard that going back to it is extremely jarring due to its mechanics and unecessary grind.

the card battle system was great though.

Oh man, NGVS. Wii Vs. PS3 Vs. Xbox 360. Remember the day the Nintendo Revolution was called the Wii? The whole damn forum exploded! Then the games started coming out, one after the other. And every day was like Nirvana. 2005-2007 were some great years.

Tempest-Lord, RandomDave, lonewolf... I miss those guys.

I even miss people like ?huh? and coolguy and their hilarious bickering and ?huh?'s waaay over the top trolling and his daily 5-6 news article posts.

Honestly, when it comes to ?huh?, the grass is greener. ?huh? would push active conversations off the front page for his news posts. Even consolidating them there was just too many. His own threads might have a conversation going with 10 replies, and then it will get pushed off. Most of his threads had less than 3 replies, and it took up 75% of the front page.

Under Xhin's system defunct threads go away, so he could now do that without ruining active conversations. But you'd have a really, really good topic going, gets pushed, and then silence for days.

Is it, really? I enjoyed his effort and I looked at his news articles, even if they weren't all relevant to my interests. Honestly, I'd rather prioritize a news post with three replies discussing it than a more active garbage thread. If we're being honest, most of the "activity" was lifers going in circles anyway. Just because a conversation was more active doesn't mean it was more worthwhile.

Also, just because a thread fell off the first page doesn't mean that's why it lost activity. Did it ever occur to you that falling off of the front page was always going to be positively correlated with loss of activity under Xhin's old non-bump system because both passing from the front page and loss of activity were positively correlated with the simple passage of time? People can't just talk about the same thing forever. When a conversation is actually worthwhile, I find my way back to it regardless.

I'm not saying that there was never a circumstance where a conversation suffered from not being on the front page. I'm just saying that you're blowing it out of proportion, especially since DS2 wasn't spamming or going off topic when he did that.

I always enjoyed ?huh?. If there was one person that would return to the site, I would hope for it to be him. He wasn't without faults, as we all are, but he seemed highly knowledgeable about the industry. There was an aura of mystique about him. Mostly robotic, but it was interesting when he showed his more human side.
