So I thought I had finished up Red Dead Redemption last night. But after reading up on the plot I found out that there is still a bit more to come. I was able to get sucked into the game much more this time around. I think I'll try to go back and do some of the side jobs and unlock some more achievements. The photo above is a great example of the landscape that I find so appealing in this game. Similar to playing in Afghanistan in MGS V.

Yep, I like that ending bit but it kinda sucks that

Since I last updated:

Old: I just finished Boxboy!, Crazy Taxi, and Pac-Man CE DX+. I went back and am continuing DJ Hero after about a 5 year hiatus. Have been playing Halo 5 Multiplayer but only have been playing Infection (which I just love). Put Ryse: Son of Rome off for now.

New: Started playing Human Fall Flat with my wife which is kind of stupid but charming. Played Overcooked with my brother in law (which is pretty fun for a few days). Still playing Odyssey and Dead Rising 4 when I get the chances. Got into Star Wars Battlefront (after owning it for nearly a year).

@Vandy: I'll let you know when I'm able to get a day or night off still (haven't played H5 campaign since). Do you also happen to have Halo: Spartan Assault? I need someone to co-op that game with.

Posted March 22nd by Fox Forever

I don't have Spartan Assault.

As for Halo 5 multiplayer. Give Super Fiesta a few tries next time. Each time you spawn with two random weapons which includes all of the req variants of weapons. It will expose you to all of the req variants that are normally only available in Warzone. You probably won't know what most of them do until you fire. But most base weapons except for loadouts like the BR and AR have at least 3 variants that are used differently. It's a good mode to play being new to the game since you can always have a chance depending on what you spawn with.

I made a post with details on them a long time ago, but quite a few weapons have been added since then such as the gravity hammers and grenade launchers.

recently completed the Secret of Mana remake and Dragon Quest Heroes 2. SoM is largely the same game (for better and for worse), though it does have some QoL improvements. The voice acting is hit-or-miss and I hear they didn't totally fix its random crashes, but it autosaves literally every time you enter a new room so I never lost more than a few seconds' progress.

DQH2 went overboard on its trophy requirements, but I still had fun with it for most of the loooong time I spent on it. Now make a third one that scales back the grindy achievements and adds important characters that didn't make it into either game. Or really, just add everybody c:

now I'm mostly focused on Tales of Berseria. There are some Zestiria-flavored design elements I could do without, but it's been pretty great so far.

Dragon Quest Builders on the Switch. I'm +40 hours in and 60% done with the game. Crazy how addictive this game is. I don't play it everyday, but its hard to get back to xenoblade chronicles with this game. Maybe after chapter 3 I'll take a break and get back to xenoblade chronicles 2. hmm

Posted March 23rd by ShadowFox08

Haven't been playing much, mostly reading. Someday, I'd like to pick up Xenoblade Chronicles 2 though. I haven't touched Dragon Quest Builders in a few weeks or so.

Going to start a Dragon Quest marathon from Dragon Quest 4 on the DS in time for Dragon Quest XI.

You are starting from 4 and going through each one until 10? That’s going to be a lot to get through in the next 5 months before 11 comes out.

^^ yes it will dragon quest 7 is like 100+ hours,i been playing it on and off for like a month now and just got to dharma temple you wont be able to beat them all unless your unemployed or something lol

Edited April 2nd by Brandy

100+ hours is p normal for DQ7 btw; it's sorta infamous for being a long game

4-6 are more typical-length RPGs (and better than 7). 9 is probably around the same length as them (aside from Practically Limitless Postgame Content), and 8 is relatively long (shorter and better than 7). That's not to say 7 is bad or anything, just that all the others in that span are better (except possibly 9, which has better gameplay but a weaker plot).

that said, it's a wonderful use of your time and more people should play them

Posted April 2nd by Pirate_Ninja

Didn’t realize how long they were. I can’t find 9 and 10 tho?

Posted April 2nd by Castrael

9 (Sentinels of the Starry Skies) is exclusive to the DS; you won't find it on anything else. Lots of people want a remake because none of the bonus content that requires internet access is available anymore (since Nintendo shut down the DS wifi servers because it's an old system). It's actually a lot of missing (optional) stuff, sadly, but the game itself works fine.

10 was an MMORPG that was only released in Japan, so don't lose any sleep on that one. IIRC it was a Wii game, and unique in that they charged a subscription fee for its online play.

Been playing Dragon Quest Builders on Switch.

At first I thought it looked pretty meh because people kept comparing it to Minecraft and I was just like "Been there, done that". But after watching some actual gameplay footage, and now after playing it, I would say a much better comparison is Terraria except in 3D (Minecraft is far too sandboxy to ever be the right comparison)... Really liking the game though, only about 1/3 into chapter 2 assuming the portal unlocks are an accurate guesstimate at progress through a chapter.

Oh and also been playing the yearly SUPER ADVENTURE FESTIVAL in GW2!!!!

9 worth to get then?

Posted April 3rd by Castrael

imo, sure. The story is on the weaker side and the characters in your party have no personalities (they're all custom build-your-own-avatar types), but if you enjoy how the games play then I'd say it's the most refined in that respect - especially its job system (which is similar to what 6 uses). You get full party customization too, down to everyone's appearances (and the equipment you're wearing is visible on your characters as well).

almost done with Catherine and the last stage motivated me to get my controller replaced iwth one that doesn't disconnect every second
yeah that sounds like an unnecessary extra hurdle lol

do you have any idea which ending you're getting?

never actually played Terraria but from what I remember of seeing its gameplay that seems appropriate. And I'd say the portals are a decent estimate for that, though of course it'll vary depending on how much non-essential stuff you do (and when you do it).

I own that game but it's just a matter of starting and playing it. I feel like it's the kind of game I'd play where the tv is facing me in a corner of a dark room in my house while everyone is sleeping so nobody could see me playing it. I don't care much if a game is weird and slightly perverted-y but I know others would think it's weird.

My progress:

-Finished Human Fall Flat, play it with a S/O or a friend for best results. Playing it solo feels sad.
-Started and finished Mr. Pumpkin adventures (warning: NEVER PLAY THIS GAME, IT IS TERRIBLE).
-Finished Overcooked solo. Again, play this with someone for best results, it's funny and amusing.
-Finished Jackbox Party Pack 2. Normally I don't try to finish these because people come over to play it and progress gets made, but I just wanted to finish it.
-Am continuing on Star Wars Battlefront. Sometimes I feel like it's a little too unfair, but the people remaining are those who are just gods at this game now.

Not sure what to play next. I felt like I've made pretty good progress. Was thinking of finishing up Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. I played it like 8 years ago and never finished.

Posted April 4th by Fox Forever

I don't care much if a game is weird and slightly perverted-y but I know others would think it's weird.
make time for it when you can imo. A lot of the game is either dingy bar scene with people talking or the protagonist (in his boxers) climbing a mountain of blocks, which I don't should be that weird to a passerby. The story scenes are tame much of the time as well - sometimes a little racy in line with the plot but not in-your-face about it. Think of it as camerawork by the nervous protagonist - he'll look at the hot chick, maybe linger a moment, but then UH UM SORRY NOPE HAHA NICE WEATHER TODAY.

some "weirder" stuff happens toward the end (and even then, I honestly don't think it's worse than a horror movie), but it's a great game and if you already have it it'd be a shame not to play it

Posted April 4th by Pirate_Ninja

So played a few more hours of Sea of Thieves last night, and it's got me fairly hooked. Although the content is lacking, I'm hooked on the sailing mechanics, which to me, are near perfect. This is refreshing after trying and not liking the sailing in AC Black Flag last year.

Also I really like the sound effects of water rushing up against the boat, and the creaking sound of the wood on your ship. Other good sound effects I've noticed are far away cannon shots. I was on an island by myself last night and heard cannon fire. I was worried someone was sinking my ship so I ran to the top of the island to get a good view. I found that one ship was firing on another ship that was trying to sail away. The two ships circled around the island a few times before sailing away. It was a cool scene to watch from my point of view.

The mechanics are great. The bones of this game are solid. I'm optimistic that Rare will listen to feedback and add more content along the way to give fun reasons to play aside for earning gold to unlock skins.

Posted April 6th by Vandy

I agree, Sea of Thieves has a good foundation and all the right elements and blocks are there. If rare adds more depth to the combat and questing the game will improve greatly. And as you noted, Sailing around in your little ship solo is alot of fun.

Here's a perfect docking of my boat! Admittedly I did crash onto land a few times and once sunk my boat, but was luckily able to save my two chests on board from sinking.

Edited April 6th by Vandy

I cant tell you how many times I've crashed my boat into a dock or beach. one time I wedged it into a dock and couldn't get it out. I had to log out of the game and log back in to get it unstuck.

Posted April 6th by Q
Q

Do you adjust your sails while docking or just drop the anchor?

Posted April 6th by Vandy

I slowly close them as I approach the docks now. Before I would just come flying in while dropping anchor. One time I was working on making a great dock and then started getting attacked because of course I did lol.

mm, definitely helps you get more use out of them that way. My general philosophy was to head toward a beast, but make sure to activate the map towers in the area and poke around before going in. Tackle any shrine I saw or investigate anything that looked interesting, but not to worry about finding everything or completing sidequests right away (unless I knew the reward was something I wanted now).

but before taking on the final boss, I went back to find all the shrines (and do pretty much everything else, aside from upgrading equipment I wasn't actively using). The lack of dungeons in the game was unfortunate, so I wanted to make sure to check out every shrine challenge because the better ones are like mini-dungeons to help make up for that.

Posted April 8th by Pirate_Ninja

Yeah i grabbed all the towers as I passed by them as well as any shrines I saw and I snagged the Master Sword.

I agree. As good as BotW is, I do miss the dungeons that the series has been known for. Lets hope that the next Zelda game will have both Dungeons and the Shrines.

I do have a question though. Between Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild which is the better game to pick up?

I like the look of both but I am not sure which one would be best for me. I would prefer one I can sink the most hours into.

You'd probably get more time out of BotW with all the monotonous shit you can do, but Odyssey is the better game (and a lot of time can be spent getting all the new moons post-story anyway).

Posted April 16th by Orion Nebula

I started playing a game called "Vostok Inc." on Saturday. Really interesting and fun game. You go around developing and mining planets to make money. Pay for mines and stuff to make a certain amount of money per second. Keep on doing that and before you know it you're racking up money easily. Doing more stuff unlocks more things to develop and once you're done developing your own solar system you go and move on to the next one. Buying stuff is a simple "clicker" game where you just press a button to buy stuff but there's also a stick shooter (a la geometry wars) where you destroy enemies, destroy meteors, pick up floating space people (who benefit your company in a monetary sense), and fly to other planets to make more money. You start off by making thousands or so per second and eventually make quadrillions.

It also has an 80s type of vibe with its vibrant looks and synth style music and your assistant is this weird yuppie looking guy ripped straight from the 80s as well. I think it's pretty good and from what I've seen not many people are talking about it. Good $10 or so investment (think I bought it for $8).

judging by the estimated playtime that the system saves, I spent about twice as much time with BotW ("110 hours or more") as I did with Odyssey ("55 hours or more"). But if I had to pick which one I enjoyed more, I'd probably go with Odyssey. They do different stuff (Mario doesn't hit that same sense of exploration, for instance) and they're both good games, but I favor the cleaner overall package.

Edited April 16th by Pirate_Ninja

Im leaning more towards odyssey just because dark souls should fill my RPG needs for a long while.

But the gameplay of BOTW looks pretty fun and reminds me a bit of MGSV. (You can approach each situation however you like for instances)

any one trying out god of war?

Posted April 27th by s.o.h.

I'm a fair ways into God of War (one thing that annoys me about PS4 is that it won't tell you hours played). It's really, really good. Perhaps not 10/10 material for me personally, but it's still a hell of a game.

The story is extremely well written and engaging right from the get-go (especially the first boss fight early on), and you gotta admire how interesting they actually managed to make Kratos. Combat is challenging, with a variety enemies that won't hesitate to bull-rush you all at the same time. Kratos' attacks feel weighted and brutal, there's flexibility in the skill tree (plus enhancement skills), and Atreus continuously evolves into a very helpful companion. Midgard is designed in a sort of Dark Souls way, with interconnected areas that you'll end up backtracking to as opposed to one giant Ubisoft open world.

Downsides... I hate the boat. You'll have to traverse with it a fair bit, but you're only allowed to dock at allocated docking bays, and you can't throw your axe or do anything while sitting in the boat. It feels way too restrictive. I also don't like that there's no jump button.

The target lock is clunky and takes way too long to switch between enemies. It becomes more of a hinderance than anything when surrounded by large groups, and it's definitely detracted from my experience with combat (which otherwise is pretty good).

The text size is fucking minuscule and even after the patch it sucks. I don't know why this is still such a difficult thing to manage.

Posted April 28th by Orion Nebula

More recently wiiu breath of the wild and hearts of iron 4. Breath of the wild is fun and it definitely pretty much matched my expectations so far (some may remember me listing it as my 2nd favorite Zelda game despite never playing it). It's fun but so far I'm hesitant to put it higher than twilight princess. One thing I do have to say about it specifically though is that, while the vibrant feel to it is nice, it kind of feels out of place with the devastation of hyrule and everything. I would have preferred a much grimmer atmosphere.

Hearts of iron 4 is a pretty decent WW2 strategy game especially with mods.

But the gameplay of BOTW looks pretty fun and reminds me a bit of MGSV. (You can approach each situation however you like for instances)

I think it took inspiration from Skyrim if anything.

Currently at Dragon Roost Island, in Wind Waker, so it'll probably be a few weeks before I actually get to it. Especially since I only play for, like, 1-2 hours a day, unlike the 6-7 that I did when I was a kid.

Wowee (yoshi) I've only not completed Skyward Sword but all of those are pretty damn fun. Wind Waker is my favorite game of all time and I wish I could play it for the first time again. Maybe I'll grab the HD version.

I played and finished Roblox (it kinda sucks tbh) and I played and finished The Turing Test which was kinda a quick cool game. I'm back to finishing Mortal Kombat X, Dead Rising 4, and Mafia III. I'll probably keep on finishing my old stuff for a little while. I did play Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy.

I have that game from GWG and want to play it soon. I've heard good things about it. It's similar gameplay to Portal, right?

Posted May 18th by Vandy

Yeah it's pretty similar (I mean minus the portals, kinda). Probably about an 8 hour long game. Kinda creepy but honestly none of the puzzles are brain breaking hard. Some are just a bit tough. There's also extras similar to Portal which had those "rat man" rooms where there are rooms off to the side that you can mess around in and find more of the story.

Since I know that you’re into these types of liberal arts field of drama/acting I am only pointing out this option for you to possibly consider if you want to, her posts are in the entertainment and music and the general forum (and the fact that you’re hearing impaired like she is, maybe you two could help each other in on how to utilize your hearing aids to understand music and speech given by your friends and family and professors since it’s very hard to hear in noisy environments like a classroom setting. better. She had tried the microphone that I showed you that I had to have my teaueds wear which helped me understand them throughout my middle school and high school history but had to drop out of college due to medical and transcriptioning problems which they disb’t give me. They dieb’t give her any quality help at all when she was young so she couldb’t go to school at all.) I hope that you’re able to hear your professors well and able to keep up with classes which you were worried about a few years ago. The wolf0x happens to be hard of hearing also and was given excellent transcriptioning services and was able to hear her professors well with her hearing aids and she graduated a year or two back so don’t be afraid when having to transfer to a university, you can tell brave newdeafgirl how you made it through schooling if you wish to to encourage her to apply to a university and seek the hearing related services that you’re given currently if you are given any). This is all up to you and i’m Not gonna detail this thread telling her that you two are very much alike because that’s getting way too personal. SHE is the one who is asking for volunteers so i’m just being her messenger so to speak and it’s orally up to you and anyone else as to if you want to join her auditions (cetasaueus and EN happened to ask to join the cast and volunteer in her auditions playwright).

Pokemon Quest is okay but there's waaaaaaaay too much luck involved and the AI is garbage. I'm a really big fan of when your team members decide to position themselves between a stage boss and a wall of some kind, so if you try to command your team to scatter in order to avoid an attack, it'll just run blindly into the wall and eat the full force of the hit. I definitely haven't lost three consecutive fights this evening to the final (?) boss because someone on my team decided to do that. Maybe I need to change up the team, but haha I can't even tell thanks AI!!

finally completed Tales of Berseria yesterday, good times were had overall. It's a prequel so there was some predestined sadness/disappointment I was prepared for, but within those constraints I was happy with it. Finally going to get started on Xenoblade 2 (once I reconnect the Switch's dock to the TV, at least).

yesterday was also the most sacred day of the year in School Idol Festival and I had decent luck, so that's cool. hb bb

Pirate ninja when you have the chance to do this can you please check your user cp messages and respond to the one(s$ that I sent yo you a few days ago? Let’s keep our matters there regarding this issue that i’m having here. Thank you in advance.

Pardon me for this please vandy, just wanted to get the word out to pirate ninja for a private social problem I am having here. We’ll take these matters there and not do it here because that would derail this thread’s original topic.

Just xenoblade 2 for now. I'm like 100 hours in now. I'd like to beat it by the end of the month.. and then go back to dragon ball xenoverse 2 on the switch and beat that. I already have mario tennis aces predownloaded, and I MIGHT download Doom and the upcoming fortnite(hopefully has gyro) in the near future.

Has any one gotten the dlc? Is it worth it.

I don't have the expansion pass.. But I know whats in it. First pass is getting a bunch of new masks and upgrading your master sword so it hits as powerful as fighting gannon blight like enemies, as well as making it unbreakable. You get the upgrade by doing a master sword quest. There's a bunch of levels/rounds.. But its basically eventide island on steroids.

2nd part of dlc.. aka champions ballad gives you more costumes and what not.. But it gives 4 more shrines which unlocks a mini dungeon that gives you a one hit kill weapon to use(but you also die in one hit) in the dungeon.. and it unlocks a cool bike you can roam around with that feeds off of food. Also unlocks a separate Master mode save file that makes you take twice as much damage, and enemies regenerate health(and ave more health in general) with higher ranked color of enemies showing up sooner. The pass is $20. I lived fine without it, mostly because I felt burned out after beating the game after 160 hrs and didn't feel like I absolutely NEEDED IT. But if it goes for $10, maybe I'll get it.

Here is a clip of me playing Alien Isolation last night. A nearby human had shot the alien so the alien went after the human. I thought this would give me enough time to run past the alien. All I needed to do was get to the next room. I could hear the alien running behind me after I turned the corner and knew I would not make it. So intense.

woah that looked intense.. how in the world did he catch up so fast. If this game came out on the switch, I'd consider buying it.

Can you fight the aliens back with guns or is it just a run away kind of thing?

Posted June 13th by ShadowFox08

It can't be killed, but it can be forced to retreat with fire (flamethrower or molotov).

Posted June 13th by Orion Nebula

@Pirate_Ninja: I’ve seen a guy on YouTube (which is where most of time goes to and Anime mostly lol) beat the game with two level 100 Alakazam and one level 100 machamp. It’s like, wtf, dude.

I’m going to pick up Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as well. Not sure about the auto attacks yet but the new E3 trailer looked really good. I’m just not a big fan of the English cast in this game. v.v

There's only one alien (that I know of) that follows you throughout the game. You can always hear it traveling in the vents and it can drop down at any time randomly. If you make noise by running or in combat with other humans or androids it will almost 100% appear. One of my favorite things to do when I see a group of hostile humans is to throw a noisemaker or flashbang towards the group and watch the alien come down and destroy them.

It can't be killed, but it can be forced to retreat with fire (flamethrower or molotov).

I just got the flamethrower last night. Makes me feel a lot safer now that I can just blast it to make it run away. I've only done it twice though. I don't know if it always works.

Here's another clip from last night:
https://streamable.com/i17in
This is the most I've jumped during the game. For context, I had just activated a shutdown of an area and crawled into a nearby vent because I figured the noise would attract the alien. It came and I sat in the vents for a few minutes while it was walking around in the room. I was kind of not paying attention on my laptop waiting for it to leave by listening to its footsteps. Keep in mind I'm playing at night time and I have headphones on so I can hear footsteps really well and can tell what direction they are coming from. So I unpause and immediately hear much louder footsteps in what sounds to be within my own vent. I had never been attacked in a vent before, but I knew it could happen. I turn around and see only black. As soon as I turn on my flashlight, this was the last thing that I saw:

Edited June 13th by Vandy

congrats on filming your own sci-fi movie death scene, lol.

"okay guys I'm hiding in the vents so I can blast that bastard when it gets here. Don't worry about me, there's no way it'll crawl up behi-" *static*

@Castrael: I have a feeling I watched (parts of) the same video the other night, lol. Verlis?

that wasn't the final boss, though - that's like...a bullshit postgame final challenge stage. Turns out I was indeed at the final stage of the main game (as in, the credits roll when you beat it), and I beat it with the team I'd been trying with after about ten tries and a bunch of cursing at the AI.

I brought an Alakazam (Psybeam and Barrier), a Raichu (Thundershock and Thunderbolt), and a shiny Rhydon (Iron Tail and Crunch) - I think their levels were 77, 59, and 66 at the time. The idea was basically to have Barrier up all the time to help survive anything they can't dodge, and to focus on using the scatter command to dodge attacks when I can tell they're coming. I used Psybeam and Thundershock to attack whenever possible, hoping to confuse/paralyze because it buys a bunch of time for free damage. Rhydon used whatever seemed appropriate when he wasn't dead, but he spent the majority of the fight KO'd because the AI decided he should be really suicidal. Mewtwo's psychic attack in the final part of the fight is basically pure luck to dodge - a spiral pattern of energy balls that expands outward, so even if you scatter your team in time you have to hope your Pokémon decide to run to a spot that the swirling orbs don't hit. More than once in that fight, my KO'd Rhydon recovered just as Mewtwo charged that blast. Which meant I was unable to give him the order to run to try and dodge it. Which means he runs right up in front of Mewtwo, where the attack comes from. Which I'm pretty sure means he gets hit with most (if not all) of the individual blasts because he's immediately KO'd again. Fortunately, Alakazam was a champ at dodging (when he doesn't corner himself against a wall), and Raichu spent enough time alive to help him wear the boss down.

I'm sorta playing the postgame area but it's dumb and grindy and the last cooking pot is really costly to use. Not really interested in doing enough stupid grinding (and getting lucky) to get an "ultimate" team like that, and I'm absolutely not spending any money on this mess to make it faster/easier.

Posted June 13th by Pirate_Ninja

@Pirate_Ninja: Haha, yeah. Same guy. Verlisify was his name.

Right now: I have Pidgeotto (which sucks cuz it only has Gust), Raichu (Evolved at 22, finally. now 25 I think?) (Thunderbolt and Volt Switch? I think it's called) and Charmeleon (he's at level 31 now, need him to be Charizard) (Scratch and Fire Spin.) I'm close to the 5,000 range. Trying to level up at the moment for the bosses. The grinding's a pain.

I'm waiting for the battery to reload because I ran out from decorating my camp.

Posted June 13th by Castrael

I used a Pidgey/Pidgeotto with Gust and Twister for a while, which was nice. Gust did good damage on single targets/small areas, while Twister was nice when I just wanted to hit a whole wide group (it's a 3-way spread shot). But sometimes one move is all you need, as long as it's a good one.

honestly, leveling up is p bad in this game imo - at least during the mid-late game. It's rather slow if you're not using level-up training (which is really only effective if you duplicates to get rid of). Once stages started to get tougher, I found it really helpful to just catch new stuff of whatever type gets a bonus in that area, using the cooking recipes that attract certain types. Like the rock area seemed pretty rough until I caught Geodude and Rhyhorn to use - and they were also great for the ground area that comes right afterward. Stat-raising moves are really useful too, especially if you can link them with stuff like Sharing Stones to boost your whole party's stats at once.

Edited June 13th by Pirate_Ninja

Yeah, I stopped playing Pokémon Quest. I managed to evolve my Charmeleon to Charizard though. It's just too much of a hassle.

Sushi Striker is okay. You can get pretty distracted very easily if you're not paying any attention and lose matching sushi plates. I got bored of it too.

I'm so excited for Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition. I'm going to get an Xbox One X when it comes out.

Scratch that. Looks like it'll come to the Switch and PS4.

Edited June 14th by Castrael

Vesperia Definitive is big million - I'll probably get the PS4 version, though Switch might also work. One of my favorites, but with new content? Uh yes thank you.

Posted June 14th by Pirate_Ninja

Haha, yeah I might get the PS4 edition as well. I want to check out Ys VIII too. There were so many issues on the PS4 version but I managed to get through the whole story. Didn't 100% complete it, but I did get the true ending though. So, I hope there's new updates on there as well.

Thinking about trying Dark Souls again once I finish up with Alien Isolation. It feels good to be back to single-player games after playing multiplayer-focused games for so long.

Would anyone prefer these posts be month-to-month? Instead of a season.

Posted June 15th by Vandy

a new one each month would work imo, since it also gives a clear idea when the topic is going to be replaced

Posted June 15th by Pirate_Ninja

fornite. think I played like 5 hours in a 26 hour span. FF It gets addicting with friends htough

Posted June 16th by ShadowFox08

20 hours into Alien Isolation and I still have three missions to go. It's much longer than I had anticipated but I've had a lot of fun with it. The middle section without the alien breathing down my neck offered much-needed relief from the otherwise constant pressure from it. But now I've angered the nest and they are crawling all over the space station.

I am a bit tired of the same process: go here -> something doesn't work as it should -> find X -> proceed -> something else doesn't work. It's only just starting to wear on me this far in, though.

Also, I feel the text logs could be better. The majority of them don't offer much background info on what happened before Ripley arrived to the station or the alien.

Posted June 19th by Vandy

'twas the most important kind of Party Crash, so I was playing a bunch of ARMS over the weekend. It was a community-wide showdown between my pop idol cutie and that lady with the nice ass and bad accent, so obviously I had to go bop some binches for the collective good:

semi-related: I recently took my first ranked match off a level 20 player (20 is the cap). I'm currently around halfway through level 17, and the highest I've ever been is just over 18. It was also one of the most butt-clenchingly close fight endings I've had:

I reversed the replay perspective to better show the ending - my opponent is the clown in the foreground who can move while shielding and inflate like a balloon to bounce around. As the cheerleader-looking pop star in the background, I get multiple midair jumps (with diminishing returns) for movement mixups, which is why I'm jumping a lot - her mobility is better up there.

I have the lead at the start of the clip, but waste my super on a frustratingly-close kill attempt - and then get caught by the start of his super (that vertical ink-stamp weapon is so fast; I hate it), Fortunately, it's a glancing blow and I can shield the rest, but chip damage leaves me at 1 HP with less than ten seconds before I lose by timeout. I want the win, and he's not content to run away and stall me out.

anyway, that last shot of his freeze ray is right under me. If my midair punch had missed, I'd have been KO'd. And if I hadn't guessed it was coming and stalled my descent with everything I had, I would've landed on it for a double KO. But everything came together and I took rounds 1 and 3 for the win.

...with that event over, though, mostly playing Xenoblade 2.

I bought God Of War and Horizon Zero Dawn shortly before I found out the news about my brother. I haven’t had the chance to throw either of them in the PS4 yet but I am looking forward to them once I get my head together.

Started Dark Souls last night. Managed to get farther than I did in any of my past attempts by defeating the first knight at Undeadburg. I did have to look up a youtube clip to see that you can defeat him pretty easily by circling him and back stabbing. However I died shortly after by the big bridge demon. It was a big victory for me, though, since I had never made it past the knight and I think that was a factor in feeling defeated and not continuing.

Posted June 21st by Vandy

Maybe I'll start up some DS and see if I can get past my farthest (don't remember by name where I was at but it wasn't very far and it was like 4 years ago).

I just finished Mafia III totally. I also finished MKX last week. Played Octopath's demo and it has been pretty fun so far but I think I still have time to continue playing it. I chose Alfyn the apothecary first and it's been really nice. The voice acting is pretty good, but I was a little let down that it wasn't 100% voice acted. Similar to the amount in Tales of Symphonia, VA'd when it's something real important but not VA'd at the less important dialogue.

It's officially summer now, so I think we need a summer 2018 post.

Posted June 26th by Fox Forever

I think we will start month-to-month posts to keep them from dragging on and getting too long. And as PN mentioned, everyone will know when it will be replaced. I'll go ahead and start up the one for July even though it's a bit early as this post is getting old.
