So I thought I had finished up Red Dead Redemption last night. But after reading up on the plot I found out that there is still a bit more to come. I was able to get sucked into the game much more this time around. I think I'll try to go back and do some of the side jobs and unlock some more achievements. The photo above is a great example of the landscape that I find so appealing in this game. Similar to playing in Afghanistan in MGS V.

Yep, I like that ending bit but it kinda sucks that

Since I last updated:

Old: I just finished Boxboy!, Crazy Taxi, and Pac-Man CE DX+. I went back and am continuing DJ Hero after about a 5 year hiatus. Have been playing Halo 5 Multiplayer but only have been playing Infection (which I just love). Put Ryse: Son of Rome off for now.

New: Started playing Human Fall Flat with my wife which is kind of stupid but charming. Played Overcooked with my brother in law (which is pretty fun for a few days). Still playing Odyssey and Dead Rising 4 when I get the chances. Got into Star Wars Battlefront (after owning it for nearly a year).

@Vandy: I'll let you know when I'm able to get a day or night off still (haven't played H5 campaign since). Do you also happen to have Halo: Spartan Assault? I need someone to co-op that game with.

I don't have Spartan Assault.

As for Halo 5 multiplayer. Give Super Fiesta a few tries next time. Each time you spawn with two random weapons which includes all of the req variants of weapons. It will expose you to all of the req variants that are normally only available in Warzone. You probably won't know what most of them do until you fire. But most base weapons except for loadouts like the BR and AR have at least 3 variants that are used differently. It's a good mode to play being new to the game since you can always have a chance depending on what you spawn with.

I made a post with details on them a long time ago, but quite a few weapons have been added since then such as the gravity hammers and grenade launchers.

recently completed the Secret of Mana remake and Dragon Quest Heroes 2. SoM is largely the same game (for better and for worse), though it does have some QoL improvements. The voice acting is hit-or-miss and I hear they didn't totally fix its random crashes, but it autosaves literally every time you enter a new room so I never lost more than a few seconds' progress.

DQH2 went overboard on its trophy requirements, but I still had fun with it for most of the loooong time I spent on it. Now make a third one that scales back the grindy achievements and adds important characters that didn't make it into either game. Or really, just add everybody c:

now I'm mostly focused on Tales of Berseria. There are some Zestiria-flavored design elements I could do without, but it's been pretty great so far.

Dragon Quest Builders on the Switch. I'm +40 hours in and 60% done with the game. Crazy how addictive this game is. I don't play it everyday, but its hard to get back to xenoblade chronicles with this game. Maybe after chapter 3 I'll take a break and get back to xenoblade chronicles 2. hmm

Haven't been playing much, mostly reading. Someday, I'd like to pick up Xenoblade Chronicles 2 though. I haven't touched Dragon Quest Builders in a few weeks or so.

100+ hours is p normal for DQ7 btw; it's sorta infamous for being a long game

4-6 are more typical-length RPGs (and better than 7). 9 is probably around the same length as them (aside from Practically Limitless Postgame Content), and 8 is relatively long (shorter and better than 7). That's not to say 7 is bad or anything, just that all the others in that span are better (except possibly 9, which has better gameplay but a weaker plot).

that said, it's a wonderful use of your time and more people should play them

Didn’t realize how long they were. I can’t find 9 and 10 tho?

Posted April 2nd by Castrael

9 (Sentinels of the Starry Skies) is exclusive to the DS; you won't find it on anything else. Lots of people want a remake because none of the bonus content that requires internet access is available anymore (since Nintendo shut down the DS wifi servers because it's an old system). It's actually a lot of missing (optional) stuff, sadly, but the game itself works fine.

10 was an MMORPG that was only released in Japan, so don't lose any sleep on that one. IIRC it was a Wii game, and unique in that they charged a subscription fee for its online play.

Been playing Dragon Quest Builders on Switch.

At first I thought it looked pretty meh because people kept comparing it to Minecraft and I was just like "Been there, done that". But after watching some actual gameplay footage, and now after playing it, I would say a much better comparison is Terraria except in 3D (Minecraft is far too sandboxy to ever be the right comparison)... Really liking the game though, only about 1/3 into chapter 2 assuming the portal unlocks are an accurate guesstimate at progress through a chapter.

Oh and also been playing the yearly SUPER ADVENTURE FESTIVAL in GW2!!!!

imo, sure. The story is on the weaker side and the characters in your party have no personalities (they're all custom build-your-own-avatar types), but if you enjoy how the games play then I'd say it's the most refined in that respect - especially its job system (which is similar to what 6 uses). You get full party customization too, down to everyone's appearances (and the equipment you're wearing is visible on your characters as well).

yeah that sounds like an unnecessary extra hurdle lol

do you have any idea which ending you're getting?

never actually played Terraria but from what I remember of seeing its gameplay that seems appropriate. And I'd say the portals are a decent estimate for that, though of course it'll vary depending on how much non-essential stuff you do (and when you do it).

The good news is that you can get all the dlc content with an action replay device. The bad news is a action replay for the DS is going to be expensive. They currently go for around $70-100 on Amazon.

I own that game but it's just a matter of starting and playing it. I feel like it's the kind of game I'd play where the tv is facing me in a corner of a dark room in my house while everyone is sleeping so nobody could see me playing it. I don't care much if a game is weird and slightly perverted-y but I know others would think it's weird.

My progress:

-Finished Human Fall Flat, play it with a S/O or a friend for best results. Playing it solo feels sad.
-Started and finished Mr. Pumpkin adventures (warning: NEVER PLAY THIS GAME, IT IS TERRIBLE).
-Finished Overcooked solo. Again, play this with someone for best results, it's funny and amusing.
-Finished Jackbox Party Pack 2. Normally I don't try to finish these because people come over to play it and progress gets made, but I just wanted to finish it.
-Am continuing on Star Wars Battlefront. Sometimes I feel like it's a little too unfair, but the people remaining are those who are just gods at this game now.

Not sure what to play next. I felt like I've made pretty good progress. Was thinking of finishing up Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. I played it like 8 years ago and never finished.

make time for it when you can imo. A lot of the game is either dingy bar scene with people talking or the protagonist (in his boxers) climbing a mountain of blocks, which I don't should be that weird to a passerby. The story scenes are tame much of the time as well - sometimes a little racy in line with the plot but not in-your-face about it. Think of it as camerawork by the nervous protagonist - he'll look at the hot chick, maybe linger a moment, but then UH UM SORRY NOPE HAHA NICE WEATHER TODAY.

some "weirder" stuff happens toward the end (and even then, I honestly don't think it's worse than a horror movie), but it's a great game and if you already have it it'd be a shame not to play it

So played a few more hours of Sea of Thieves last night, and it's got me fairly hooked. Although the content is lacking, I'm hooked on the sailing mechanics, which to me, are near perfect. This is refreshing after trying and not liking the sailing in AC Black Flag last year.

Also I really like the sound effects of water rushing up against the boat, and the creaking sound of the wood on your ship. Other good sound effects I've noticed are far away cannon shots. I was on an island by myself last night and heard cannon fire. I was worried someone was sinking my ship so I ran to the top of the island to get a good view. I found that one ship was firing on another ship that was trying to sail away. The two ships circled around the island a few times before sailing away. It was a cool scene to watch from my point of view.

The mechanics are great. The bones of this game are solid. I'm optimistic that Rare will listen to feedback and add more content along the way to give fun reasons to play aside for earning gold to unlock skins.

Posted April 6th by Vandy
Vandy

I agree, Sea of Thieves has a good foundation and all the right elements and blocks are there. If rare adds more depth to the combat and questing the game will improve greatly. And as you noted, Sailing around in your little ship solo is alot of fun.

I cant tell you how many times I've crashed my boat into a dock or beach. one time I wedged it into a dock and couldn't get it out. I had to log out of the game and log back in to get it unstuck.

I slowly close them as I approach the docks now. Before I would just come flying in while dropping anchor. One time I was working on making a great dock and then started getting attacked because of course I did lol.

the naming conventions for Switch captures is kinda obnoxious but they're easy to work with at least; I have a USB reader and a PC with a built-in card reader for that stuff. Thankfully it's easier than getting screenshots off the PSTV.

mm, definitely helps you get more use out of them that way. My general philosophy was to head toward a beast, but make sure to activate the map towers in the area and poke around before going in. Tackle any shrine I saw or investigate anything that looked interesting, but not to worry about finding everything or completing sidequests right away (unless I knew the reward was something I wanted now).

but before taking on the final boss, I went back to find all the shrines (and do pretty much everything else, aside from upgrading equipment I wasn't actively using). The lack of dungeons in the game was unfortunate, so I wanted to make sure to check out every shrine challenge because the better ones are like mini-dungeons to help make up for that.

Posted April 8th by Pirate_Ninja

Yeah i grabbed all the towers as I passed by them as well as any shrines I saw and I snagged the Master Sword.

I agree. As good as BotW is, I do miss the dungeons that the series has been known for. Lets hope that the next Zelda game will have both Dungeons and the Shrines.

I am looking to purchase Bayonetta 1 and 2 and dark souls next.

I do have a question though. Between Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild which is the better game to pick up?

I like the look of both but I am not sure which one would be best for me. I would prefer one I can sink the most hours into.

You'd probably get more time out of BotW with all the monotonous shit you can do, but Odyssey is the better game (and a lot of time can be spent getting all the new moons post-story anyway).

I started playing a game called "Vostok Inc." on Saturday. Really interesting and fun game. You go around developing and mining planets to make money. Pay for mines and stuff to make a certain amount of money per second. Keep on doing that and before you know it you're racking up money easily. Doing more stuff unlocks more things to develop and once you're done developing your own solar system you go and move on to the next one. Buying stuff is a simple "clicker" game where you just press a button to buy stuff but there's also a stick shooter (a la geometry wars) where you destroy enemies, destroy meteors, pick up floating space people (who benefit your company in a monetary sense), and fly to other planets to make more money. You start off by making thousands or so per second and eventually make quadrillions.

It also has an 80s type of vibe with its vibrant looks and synth style music and your assistant is this weird yuppie looking guy ripped straight from the 80s as well. I think it's pretty good and from what I've seen not many people are talking about it. Good $10 or so investment (think I bought it for $8).

judging by the estimated playtime that the system saves, I spent about twice as much time with BotW ("110 hours or more") as I did with Odyssey ("55 hours or more"). But if I had to pick which one I enjoyed more, I'd probably go with Odyssey. They do different stuff (Mario doesn't hit that same sense of exploration, for instance) and they're both good games, but I favor the cleaner overall package.

Im leaning more towards odyssey just because dark souls should fill my RPG needs for a long while.

But the gameplay of BOTW looks pretty fun and reminds me a bit of MGSV. (You can approach each situation however you like for instances)

I guess I cant go wrong with either.
