I finished Alien Isolation and am trying to figure out which game to start next. Started up Dark Souls but it's still not grabbing me.

Played Halo 5 for the second time ever with Fox Forever a few days ago. Trying to get through the campaign but also played some social matchmaking. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it?

Also playing PUBG with my brother when our schedules align. I still much prefer it to Fortnite, mainly due to not liking the building mechanics of Fortnite. I prefer to focus on the gunplay rather than having to worry about whether I should build a wall around myself or a tower to gain an advantage. PUBG is more about making due with what equipment you've managed to find as well as your environment, rather than creating an advantage for yourself via building as in Fortnite.

To be fair there's still loads of things I neglected to do. I dont even know how to shield surf yet. Never made it to the research facility , didnt even know about the memories etc etc. I'm low key burned out by it so ill pick it up probably in a few months.

If you beat the game fast you probably didn’t enjoy it that much. I find the game I like a lot I don’t want to get to the end so fast

50 hours is too quick to beat a game?

If I didnt enjoy it I wouldnt have poured so much time into it.

its made my top 5 list of this generation next to Neir automata another game I poured 50 hours into.

Well people are saying it’s a 100+ hour game so u did it in half the time so it’s fast for that game

Posted June 26th by Brandy

And your point is? Like I said there's stuff I still have to do. Wether or not I choose to do that stuff does not detract from what I've enjoyed so far.

When I first played MGSV, I concentrated on the missions in order to get through the game and see what happens in the storyline. Now that I've picked up the complete edition on Steam, I'm playing through it again and taking my time in order to soak it in. In other words, just do multiple playthroughs.

Much like how I played Final Fantasy VII dozens of times, neither the person who plays one fast playthrough nor the person who plays one slow playthrough appreciates it as much as I, who play through games that I like many, many times.

this . I'm hesitant to jump back in with out the dlc as it adds a lot more to the game.

"50 hours is too quick to beat a game?"

I guess it really comes down to what you want out of the game. If you feel satisfied with the time you put into the game, or any game then 50 hours is good.

For me, any game the offers a large open world with so many side quests and hidden items, makes me want to spend forever just exploring. it's probably why I've never gotten around to beating the main story in Skyrim.

Posted June 26th by Q
Q

It gets repetitive after a while though. If anything having to do back to back side quests to satisfy npcs is going to become a chore and will ultimately make me dislike the game. The open world wonder eventually dies. I feel like its best for me to walk away now and take a break from it andreapproach it later on. There's also the notion of wanting to put all my interests in another game series for a while.

You say your burned out of the game and the side quest were repetive so I think you didn’t enjoy the game that much. I’m like q I want to do all. The side quest and get the extra story because I want to get the most out of the game if I enjoy it. Like if you watch a movie then at the end say thank god that movie is over I’m burned out, you didn’t like the movie right?

Not really. For instance, Hard to Be a God is a very trying experience and I felt exhausted afterwards, but that was very much in the style that the film-maker was trying to do. It was both an entertaining and troubling experience; those things aren't mutually exclusive.

Same idea with listening to black metal.

Posted June 26th by Cruinn-Annuin

Well one you don't speak for me. Two if you do something for so long you are bound to burn out on it. Three it is stupid to compare a 50 hour game session to your average 2 hour movie.

The only exceptions being intense things like Silence, Schindlers list, etc. And something tells me you have never gone out of your way to watch movies like that.

Like I said I enjoyed the game. But it is the only game I've been playing since mid may. It does not help that I would pour 4-6 into the game almost daily without fail.

Regarding not liking a game because you didn't spend 100 hours on it:

That just does not make sense. Most likely the 100-hour experience also entails doing a lot of side items that are completely optional. It's very possible to like a game and not want to 100% complete it. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Alien Isolation but once I was done I did not want to go back and collect all of the archives and complete it on hard mode. 50 hours is plenty of time to get what you want from a game and move on.

I totally get your point and want to share I have had plenty of times I have felt the way you do. This is another reason why I have never finished Skyrim. And I have been working on BotW since February. There is also a long list of games I have that I have never finished going all the way back to my SNES. So trust me, I feel your pain.

"You say your burned out of the game and the side quest were repetive so I think you didn’t enjoy the game that much. "

it's possible to enjoy a game at first, but get burned out on it. Especially when the game offers so much repetitive content. Taking a break and coming back after a while can help reinvigorate your interest in that game and allow you to enjoy it more.

"Like if you watch a movie then at the end say thank god that movie is over I’m burned out, you didn’t like the movie right?"

Yes it is, go watch Lord of the Rings: The return of the king straight through without pausing for a pee break. You'll definitely be saying "Good movie but thank god it's over" by the end.

I've been playing Fortnite on Switch since it came out. I think I am around level 15 or 16 now. I'm getting better and am learning some of the best spots to land where there are less likely to be opponents so i can find decent gear. Here I am getting a pretty good stealth kill:

Have you ever seen the movie "Primer"? It's somewhat exhausting but really interesting.

About Halo 5, I enjoyed the match type with the rockets. It was a little nuts but pretty enjoyable. The one with the souped up weapons was also pretty fun but I liked the first one we played a little more. The campaign was alright but I think I had more fun in the matchmaking. The single player is important to me though.

I think you can enjoy Fiesta more once you know what all of the weapons do. It takes a while to recognize which variant of a weapon that you have so you know what you can do with it. Like one sword variant gives you two boosts to use instead of one and has a longer hover time. Another is a lot quicker to swing. There are so many.

It feels like there's like hundreds of possibilities. It'd probably take a lot of play before I even become competent. I usually tried to figure out what they do by firing or aiming if I have no clue what it does or what kind of weapon it is.

Also I forgot to say I was gonna try and finish my last DLC's for Fallout NV (Lonesome Road, Old World Blues, and Honest Hearts). I had problems with my 360 2 years ago but I just reinstalled it in my xb1. Unfortunately, even if I install it with the DLC onto my xb1 it just won't start up. I've had to run it on the new 360 I got last year (I got it so I could play Shenmue and other original xbox games).

While waiting for that to install I went and played South Park: The Stick of Truth and while it is kinda fun, but I don't like the blocking and attacking thing so much. The timing feels off and sometimes my button doesn't respond the first time and then I get penalized for being "late" with my attacks. I was gonna see about doing DS after that.

Fiesta has been a permanent addition since about a year ago. I think it is the most-played playlist.

Just checked and yes as of 6/11/18 these are the playlists sorted by most-played:

Playlist Popularity

Started Borderlands Pre-Sequel a few days ago. I originally started it last year after finishing Borderlands 2 but I was a bit fatigued by Borderlands at that point so I didn't make it far. However starting it up again has reinvigorated my love of these games. I may even go back to 1 and 2 to get some achievements I missed. The guns work so well and the constant hunt for better gear doesn't feel grindy but rewarding. Also the game is so smooth with 60fps. And I like how colorful 2 and Pre-Sequel are following 1 which I remember being very brown.

Started re-playing Tales of Zestiria on PS4. Going to try and beat that final boss this time.

Posted June 30th by Castrael

I was able to snag myself a NES Classic off of GameStop and it arrived Friday, since then I have been enjoying some of the games on it. Haven't had too much time to play them all but I really like the retro feel of it and looks great sitting next to my SNES Classic.

Have continued on South Park but I started Earthbound Beginnings for my WiiU because my wife was playing Mafia 3 on the tv. It's a pretty cool game.

I also started Yakuza 0 after I saw it was really marked down. It's my first game in the series. Pretty fun so far and I look forward to continuing the series. It's also the first time I really started playing on my PS4 and I gotta say I love rest mode. When I need to go do something for say an hour I can just put it into rest mode even in mid-battle and pick it up exactly where I was later. I don't think XBOX has the same thing, it's also convenient for downloads but I will admit installing Yakuza 0 was a big pain as it took more than a day.

Posted July 10th by Fox Forever

" I don't think XBOX has the same thing, it's also convenient for downloads but I will admit installing Yakuza 0 was a big pain as it took more than a day."

It does, and this is on by default. The X1 will download game and system updates automagically unless you disabled this feature in the settings. All X1 games will allow you to suspend gameplay when you power it down into rest mode with the exception of X360 games.

The reason I know this is because when I would play Dragon Age Inquisition it wouldn't turn the game off and artificially increased my recorded playtime to the point where I wasn't very far but the game was saying I had over 100 hours of timed played.

Edited July 10th by Q
Q

I gotta check on that then. Do I have to tell it to enter rest mode when I shut it off? I've powered it down and it's not let me continue where I was before through regular shut down.

"I gotta check on that then. Do I have to tell it to enter rest mode when I shut it off? I've powered it down and it's not let me continue where I was before through regular shut down."

I believe you set the console to Instant-on mode which basically puts the console into hibernation or sleep mode when you power it down normally with the controller or button on the console. Any game or software updates should be automatically applied. I would go through your settings and just make sure any option for auto updating is checked and you should be good.

"Did u even read what q said. "

Easy now, his question was legit. The X1 doesn't make it obvious like the PS4 does so I can understand the confusion.

I believe auto-update is on because my xbox never asks for an update for its menus, etc. Maybe I have this instant-on turned off somewhere. I actually was never aware that it even had the feature. When you go to shut off the PS4 it asks if you want to put it into rest mode and until I played it for the first time a few days ago I never knew it was a possibility. Funny because the switch does this but it never occurred to me to try this for the xbox.

Posted July 11th by Fox Forever

The X1 will also auto install any games you purchase from XBOX store on the website or the XBOX mobile app while in instant on mode.

Edited July 11th by Q
Q

Enable instant-on in the settings and when you turn the system off it will just go into a low-power setting but not fully shut off. It will start back up within a few seconds.

If you want to fully shut it down you can do so from the power settings menu or by holding the power button on the front of the system for a few seconds. I will do the soft power down if I'm playing during the day but I do a full shutdown when I turn it off at night. Some games aren't that great about resuming from "rest" mode.

Posted July 16th by Fox Forever

yeah - if you were allowed to start as Alfyn, that was the prologue version. The original demo was only Olberic and Primrose (no time limit, just limited content), after which they took a survey and released a video thanking everyone for the feedback and talking about changes they were making based on it.

Posted July 16th by Pirate_Ninja

"There was another version? I believe I played the prologue."

It will say on picture for the game if it is the Prologue or the Demo. I chose not to play the prologue after playing a good bit of the demo so I didnt have a save to import.

Back at the final boss in ToZ. I still can’t deal enough damage and grinding gets annoying. Everybody’s at least level 60 and their weapons probably need to be modified with normin and w/e else. I’m frustrated.

Posted July 17th by Castrael

Put off the stick of truth for a little bit. I have been largely involved in Yakuza 0. Managed to get about 40 hours out of the game so far and I'm only 1/4 of the way through the game.

Dunno if I mentioned it but I started Earthbound Beginnings. I'm kinda stuck on it though as I'm just grinding trying to level up. It's not a bad game but it's not refined in the RPG way. Even with the best equipment up to the point I'm at, the game can be situationally (not a word) relentless and stupid with it's choices.

For example I need to defeat a haunted house where the main enemies are knights. They are stupidly strong and a lot of the time can do SMAAAAAAAASH attacks too often that wipe out my two party members that aren't Ninten, Loid or Ana. Another enemy that shows up are dust balls which, when killed, explode and do large amounts of damage to everyone and give smaller amounts of exp than the enemies outside (who are actually easier to kill). Loid and Ana are further down in levels than Ninten so if they get knocked out they miss out on more exp. To revive them, I have to buy tickets for the train to the hospital and pay almost $200 to revive each party member. The town near the haunted house has no hotels (heal you) and no hospitals (revives you). Well actually the town had a hotel but I didn't know that once you use it one time the hotel owner reveals he's an alien and you kill him and can't heal at the hotel anymore (what the shit? It's Earthbound, alright). I also gotta make sure I have enough money all the time by withdrawing from ATM's that are only available at department stores. If I get knocked out I lose half of what I'm carrying. I've grinded for over 2 hours and still gotta grind further but Ana's level ups in strength and defense is real slow, but she does get more PSI, which is fine but she's so slow speed wise that she gets knocked out by the knights often. I end up using WiiU save states a lot because I legit can't be arsed to travel back to previous towns to revive her just to get her to die once again.

SOH, the combat gets better as you upgrade Kratos. It’s either that, or maybe it’s just you get used to it. I’m near the end of it myself. The gameplay keeps evolving throughout the game as you and Atreus picks up new skills. The story itself evolves and unfolds in unpredictable ways too. Awesome game.

Posted July 31st by Fatal Forcer

I haven't done much upgrading skill wise. Mostly because the menu system is cluttered as hell and its a chore navigating it. I just pour XP into what ever and go from there. I am using the same special attack runes as they fit better with my play style.

It's an okay game far. It definitely has its moments. It is the best god of war game by a long shot but so far its not living up to the hype for me. But I will push on when I have more time. I just got a chisel from a certain giant.
