The Nostalgia Forum

Where the past still shines

What was the point of doing htis? now instead of communities having thier own boards they'v eall been lumped in to this one. it doens't make any sense and jsut doens't feel like GT anymore.

Sir, just suppose... suppose if I had a cat, what would you do with Frankenstein?

Neither Axems nor Jedi-Sith forums are active enough to occupy quicklink space.

You're right that this feels different. But a site being used by thousands of users will not feel the same as a site that has less than 40.

SO this is j sut a sellout to look more "modern" and be mor epopular ot sutpid new bloods.

What Vandy said. Also the Axems and Jedi-Sith forums are still their own distinct entities, they're just not on the quicklinks anymore.

it doens't make any sense and jsut doens't feel like GT anymore.

To be fair, GTX0 hasn't felt like GT since 2009.

first renaming Pointless and ow this nonsense. I js ut dont' see the appeal in constantly moving GTX0 further away form its roots. This new layout honestly makes me want to vomit. it's beocming js ut like eveyr other board out there. At some point the site isn't goign ot look anything like GT and it's jsut going tobe anot her board.

@Vandy that really makes no sense to me. htat is a bald assertion that means literally zero to me.

Which part doesn't make sense? That the forums are inactive? I guess that's subjective but I think 9/10 people would agree that both of those forums are not active. Axem has turned into the "first post of the month" forum so you could expect twelve (pointless) posts in the year. Jedi Sith has five posts this year. Two actual role-playing posts posted last December had no responses. No one is using the quicklink to post there so why does it need to be on the quicklinks? Even then - the forum still exists so you can post there if you want.

the thign that doens'tmake sense to me is that hiding it would help at all. h iding it only makes people LESS likely to post there.

Consolidating forums helps keep the small amount of traffic we have flowing in a few spots instead of spread across too many forums. It's the same reason that online games narrow their playlists after years when the population wanes because they do not have enough people to populate the playlists to keep them flowing. You then end up with long wait times or not being able to find a match at all (pretty much the status of Jedi Sith and Axem).

jsut odens't make sens e tome that hiding JS and Axem would helpt hem at all.

I do understand when pretty regular people complain about the changes if they use the site nearly daily. I always find it weird when people who visit this site only few times a year or less talk about how they don't like the changes or want it changed back.

Personally I don't like these changes as much but I don't mind as much because this seems necessary given the levels of traffic here.

why does that necessitate it exaclty?

Posted April 25th by tnu
tnu

Because traffic levels are pretty low and spread people out too thin (I thought this was all gone over in an earlier thread?)

Posted April 25th by Fox Forever

so the logic is to prevent people from going to these boards unless they go outof their way to look for them? that's really stupid.

No, the logic is to bring the existing community closer together, give those subjects more exposure, and make the site more attractive to newcomers by simplifying the structure of the site while simultaneously displaying more variety with less searching.

ust seemslike a ploy to draw attentiona way form thema nd favor ot her boards but whateer.

If and when the site gets big again and those subjects start getting an actually decent amount of content, it may be justifiable to split them off into their own thing so that they're not taking over a more general forum.

If you want it, make it happen.

admitteldy I see tyhye site getting "big again" is a potnetial catalyst for een more u nwanted change.
