Or alternatively, Mark Hamill is bummed that his comments - that are his opinion and also don't really mean anything about the film in general, because he was just participating in the nerd discourse that he has long been a fan of himself - have been jumped on by angry fanboys who use his words as somehow definitive proof that it's a terrible Star Wars film that ruins a whole bunch of things. I don't doubt for a second that Hamill wasn't too keen on the direction of Luke Skywalker, AND that he thinks The Last Jedi is great. (These are, shockingly!, not mutually exclusive opinions.)

What should be a celebration of Mark Hamill's performance (something people who loved the film focus on) has turned into angry nerds using Hamill against Star Wars, which sure, he is free to feel that this was not the path he envisioned the character to go down (which, again, is irrelevant), I can't imagine Mark Hamill of all people is stoked that he is being used to attack it.

Altname for Moonray

The point about Rey and Leia discussing it certainly crossed my mind, but it still leaves me curious as to why Mark Hamill looked so devastated at the premiere.
