I enjoyed The 360 and Xbox One more than I did the PS3/PS4.

I enjoyed my PC more than all of the above.

I dont have a need for a dedicated traditional PC set up. So I dont use one. My laptop is my daily work horse. I did enjoy my monitor + dock combo I had in my office though.

I enjoy whatever freakin system I’m playing at the time as each platform I chose has its merits. Hell, right now I’m enjoying playing GameCube games on my Wii.

Finally started Geist dispite having it sit on my shelf for 13 Years. Also resumed some Mario Sunshine. If I have time maybe get around to playing Metroid Prime 2.

I think fast loading times can help make games more enjoyable.

Look at how much faster the Xbox One X loads up games than the PS4 Pro does.

Which do you think will load games faster out of the Series X and PS5?

PS5:

“Sony has created an impressive proprietary SSD solution that provides 825GB of storage and 5.5GB/s of performance. The Xbox Series X includes a custom 1TB NVME SSD, but its raw throughput is less than half at 2.4GB/s.”

But how much faster is up for guessing right now.

How do you like Geist? At the time it was one of the many “halo killers” released in that era. I never beat it but I liked it. I really enjoyed the bot/death match section of the game. I vividly remember playing it with my cousins at the end of family get togethers.

If the games are loaded to the console's storage, the speed of the SSD and how long it can maintain those speeds without overheating determines load times. It should be said both the PS5 and Xbox One X have NVMe SSDs which are 5-11x faster than the thoroughput of traditional SATA SSDs on PCs and 25-55x faster than traditional hard drives. Fastest read speed right now is the PS5, claiming 687.5 MB/s, but both of their NVMes are much faster speeds than what people are used to.

If the games are loading from a disk to RAM, then the speed of the blu-ray reader will determine load times, which was 6x for the PS4, or 27 MBps. If a level required 1 GB of data, it would take 37 seconds for the PS4 to read that data from the disk, or a couple seconds from the PS5's NVMe drive, and 3 seconds for the Xbox One X. What you'd consider to be a typical loading screen of 20-25 seconds would actually completely clear out and top off the RAM in both consoles. The big problem I see is modern games basically require loading everything from the console because they keep cranking up the texture resolutions and haven't escaped the requirements of baking just yet.
