This guy, Mark Papeghin, BLOWS MY MIND! He threw out the idea of "remixes", and went to the base. In the FF8 vids above, he and a select group of professional musicians from around the web PLAYED a medley of FF8 music with their actually instruments.

And in the ff9 ones below, he did it all HIMSELF, a ONE MAN ORCHESTRA!

I know I am a bit late to this party but I've been busy ans wanted to add to this. Here is a guy that remixes and re-orchestrates many video game theme songs:

Dunno if I could pick a favourite track, so many to choose from, but these two YouTubers put out quality covers/remixes of video game tracks so I'll just put a few samples from them so that I don't have to decide on individual tracks...

OMG... So many.

The 8-Bit Big Band sound is definitely one of the most refined sounds for arrangements of video game soundtracks, but that comes to a head in their envisioning of Portal's Still Alive as a Frank Sinatra-esque 50's style big-band hit. A New York sound produced by professional New York musicians, playing music from Portal. Is there anything greater?

Turns out... yes. 2Saxy collaborated with the 8-Bit Big Band to make a jazzy rendition of the Pokemon theme song for their onstage debut. The results? Holy fuck...

And last but not least... Tom Brier. This man is a ragtime genius, sight reading the notes and making his own melodies completely off-the-cuff, while sticking to the main theme. His part ragtime, part bluegrass rendition of Super Mario 64's snow theme reminds me of why I love Mario in the first place. I wish Mario's sound was more like this.
