Old quicklinks are gone completely now, site feed changes

  • I migrated NIFE forums into either the NIFE User CP (Game world discussions, help or the NIFE Host CP (Requests, Updadtes, Roadmap). No one's really using those forums besides me right now.

  • The roadmap forum is now in the footer, as "Roadmap". Again, no one was really using this besides me.

  • The GTX0 row in the old quicklinks is gone. These functions have been moved into the feeds feature:

    Feeds Feature

On newest posts, you now have a select box that lets you switch site feeds -- either to one of your custom ones or the default hottest/newest/replies/my active.

Additionally, I've removed the old drop-down list under site feed if you had multiple site feeds so this is now the only way to access not default feeds.

    Other minor stuff

  • I moved NGVS and General down and made them bigger in the new quicklinks format. If you're doing something custom or have the old style turned on, this won't affect you.

    Upcoming

    Minor fixes mostly:

  • There needs to be a way of removing site feeds. Will use the old logic/animations if I can find the hooks for them.

  • There's a weird border under the new quicklinks that I need to look into.

    Conclusion

This set of changes completes the long-running quicklinks revamp project. I still have some work to do on the actual site forums, but at least now everything is integrated in the site better and the quicklinks are nicer to look at for new users.

Looks like you switched "newest posts" and "newest replies".

As for the update I will just say that I prefer how it looked before. Made it easier to get to newest replies. Now it looks...like a nasty reverse pyramid.

You can change your default site feed to whatever you want to see on one click:
    http://gtx0.com/read/migrated-newest-posts-to-site-feed-options-account-defaults
If you're more of a newest posts or newest replies kind of person you could just change your site feed link to point to that.

Alternately if you want one-touch access to multiple links for some reason, you can modify your navigation settings:
    https://gtx0.com/user/plugins.php
Activate the "Old Quicklinks" plugin here.
    https://gtx0.com/user/navigation.php
Use this to change things around.

Oh cool I didn't know we could change back to just the text links. I switched back to that. I like the minimal look.

It's good work! I also liked the old style of links, so I switched it back. Never had a problem clicking the links on mobile personally, but am open to improvements if suggestions are okay... like, how about being able to customize a bottom row? Not a huge fan of the dropdown menu, but that could work well for the master list of forums. I also don't really like the multicolour gradient on the announcements, but that's not a big deal either. Is feedback ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The site feed switcher doesn't seem to work in Firefox...haven't tried it in other browsers, just thought I'd let you know.

What do you mean by bottom row? Or could you go over your idea in more depth?

That's intentional, those links are supposed to stand out from everything else.

    Is feedback ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Feedback was renamed to "Site Issues" and is linked in the bottom of the site ("Report Issue"). You need to agree to a disclaimer before you can use it. Its new purpose will be a mix of feedback and complaints and also some newer stuff -- any sitewide controversy will happen there and only be visible to the people who have signed the disclaimer. Similarly, anything democratic moving forward will happen there.

Blasted caching. I notice the new styles aren't working in mobile either. Will fix both.
