What would you like to see in the next Halo game? Article on forge mode possibilities.

I have since come to realize that posting five articles a day on video games is excessive. So I am gonna try to stick to one good one that I think will generate discussion. This was originally a Nintendo thread but nobody gave a shit so I edited it. XD

Halo Infinite is coming out sometime in the probably distant future, say maybe 2020 or something like that. I could be wrong, it's just a guesstimation.

From the Article: Halo 5: Guardians' Forge mode is one of the best map building tools available to the gaming community. It's filled with impressive features, and they're all easily accessible thanks to the mode's intuitive controls. However, with Halo Infinite, 343 Industries has a chance to take Forge to even greater heights.

Halo is one of my favorite franchises, and it and pokemon are my two favorite online competitive games. I am significantly better at pokemon though. XD

I've never really used Forge mode, but I have seen some pretty cool levels and weapon set up built into some levels in Halo 3 and Reach.

I think for Halo Infinite to be successful and universally loves, it needs to return to it's roots with 4 player splitscreen multi-player both online and offline. Halo Infinite needs to take the reigns of the first person shooter genre and redefine it, while also being a true halo game.

It's really too bad that MS can't make up with Bungie.

It's really too bad that MS can't make up with Bungie.

Bungie is a shell of its former self. Some past Bungie members stayed on with 343 to continue with Halo. Some went on with Destiny. But I would say most of what remains of Bungie is vastly different from the Bungie of 2001-2011. They're still into the model where if you don't buy each DLC expansion, you get locked out of content that you already paid for. No thanks.

343 have stated there will be splitscreen multiplayer in all future Halo titles. Though I would love to see the data on how many people actually use it after there being such an uproar from the community. I would estimate that less than 5% of the total playerbase will use splitscreen today.


I don't suppose you've signed up for the MCC Insider program? You should consider it. 343 is very open to feedback at the moment on improving the MCC, along with Halo in general. You'll get the chance to play the test builds with their current updates before its patched into retail MCC and answer surveys about your experience and provide comments on how things can be improved. I would imagine some things will carry over into the development of Halo Infinite.

Honestly, I dont think Bungie is all that good anymore. As Vandy pointed out, their current business model is nothing like it used to be. 343i has alot of former Bungie staff that worked on the original Halo trilogy, so I feel they are more capable to move the Halo series forward. You only have to look at Halo Reach and how it took a big dookie on the book Fall of Reach to see how Bungie decided to disregard already established lore in favor of their own just because they wanted to.

I would like to see Dual Wielding make a return to the series. It was taken out in Reach for some reason and since then hasn't been included since, and that was 9 years ago. It's amazing to play through the MCC collection and from from Halo 2 and 3 where you could duel wield to Halo 4 where you can't. It makes no sense.

I would also like to see the armor customization make a return also. This is something that Halo Reach got right, where you could customize everything on your character. Your left pauldron could be different from your right, and you could have different leg armor compared to your torso. Now in Halo 5 you can only have your Helmet and body armor be different. I don't understand the step back in this either.

I would like to be able to view player stats prior to the game starting. This is something you could do up to Halo reach. I can't remember if you could in Halo 4, but in Halo 5 you cannot view any of the player stats before the game, or even see their names so you have no idea who you are going up against or how good they are.. Which is very off as starting with Halo 3 you could see their name, their states, rank and what thier character looked like.

And finally, I would like to see the theater mode made available for both campaign and multiplayer. Right now it is only available in Multiplayer so unless you set your XBOX to record your gameplay every 5 min you wont be able to go back and watch yourself play any of the campaign incase something funny or awesome happened.

These are all features that are atleast 11 years old, if not older so I am not sure why they've been dropped for no apparent reason. But I would love to see them added back in.

Bungie and MS came to a natural end of their partnership if anything. And as Vandy said, Bungie is not halcyon Bungie anymore, at its heights of dominance after the release of Halo 3. Besides, the most enthusiastic and central Bungie employees responsible for Halo stayed on with 343. So it's not for want of the old people if anything.

I just want a story that doesn't hype itself up via promotional material and clearly have cut content upon release. The actual mechanics, visuals, feedback loops and multi in 5 were the best since 2/3 if you ask me, and rectified the more worrying changes that made 4 such a damp squib.
