Anyone else feel free to use this post to add your friend codes as well.

I still have to look up my friend code. Why can’t Nintendo just make it account based like Xbox live and PSN.

This is like the 4th time we gotta do this stuff. I'd just rather keep the NNID. This gets tiring.

there are several non-friend-code methods that work as well. If your account is linked to other platforms and stuff, it'll automatically suggest friends for you from other sources, no code needed. Just go to your user page and check the Friend Suggestions tab.

if you have (and link) the appropriate accounts, it'll automatically check for Switch users from
  • Nintendo mobile app friend lists
  • Facebook friends
  • mutual Twitter followers
  • 3DS friends
  • Wii U friends

as a matter of fact, I see SOH on my list of suggested friends thanks to the Wii U option. Right under Moonray, even.

Oh yea I owned the Wii u for a while.

Thats all well and good if you want to Link your Facebook and have those user's on your facebook friends list. And being able to find them easier when you have added them on Wii U or 3DS is also nice. But if you are looking for someone who isnt already on your friends list for the Wii U or 3DS and dont have your facebook linked or have them on your facebook you are relegated to the friend code. Which I guess is no different than looking for someone's user name, but it just seems easier to look for a name like GiantBallZ69 compared to a 20 digit code that is a mix of random letters and numbers. And if you get a new system, you have to do it all over again. Where as with XBOX Live and PSN you can log into any console and download your profile bringing your whole friends list along with it.

friend codes are stupid as hell and I'm not defending them in the slightest, just noting that they're at least making baby steps in the right direction

(also it's just 12 digits, that SW never changes)

Yeah I was being dramatic with saying 20 digits. If the Switch has the online structure of Xbox Live or PSN it would be a near perfect system. I just wish they would hurry up with putting Virtual consolenoj it with my favorite snes and n64 games.
