In no particular order

1) Fallout New Vegas
2) Spider-man 2019
3) Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix
4) Batman Arkham Knight*
5) Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends

*Arkham City has a better story, boss battles, and plot twist but I feel like Arkham Knight has better everything else.

The Last Of Us used to make my top 5 but the sequel basically made the first game entirely pointless so it no longer has that honor.

As such my top 5 are:

1. Goldeneye/Perfect Dark
2. Mass Effect 2
3. Pokemon (they're all basically the same game but mostly gen 1,2 and 4)
4. Final Fantasy X
5. Conker's Bad Fur Day

Honestly it's kinda sad that no modern games would probably even crack my top 10. I think I'm using interest in gaming as an entertainment medium. I'm preferring reading and writing.

If I continued my list top 10:

6. Final Fantasy VIII
7. Super Mario All-Stars
8. Donkey Kong Country
9. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
10. Nintendoland (This is the newest game on my list. And I know it's not a "good" game, but I played it a lot with my brother before he died, and it was always a great source of laughter.)

Yeah I just think I just hate modern gaming. It's more expensive, it's riddled with microtransactions and dlc and it no longer scratches the itches I have for mental stimulation. Halo 5 was OKAY, but Reach is better, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare was decently fun but black ops ii is better. There's just nothing that I care about. Mass Effect 3 got a fuck tonne of hate when it came out, and it's a better game than almost anything that has come out in the last 8 years.

I'm going to cheat because it won't work otherwise.

1. All the big Valve FPS games (Counter-Strike series, Half-Life series, Team Fortress 2)
2. Fallout: New Vegas
3. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
4. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
5. Final Fantasy VII

I'm glad to see some SNES Games on your list, IKM. Props to you good sir.

If I was forced to pick some I'd have to have:

1. Chrono Trigger
2. Super Mario RPG
3. Golden Eye
4. Halo 2
5. LoZ: Ocarina of Time

But honestly there are so many great games out there that for me, it's hard anymore to make a general top 5. I'd have to specify but system and genre just to narrow it down.

I agree with you on most of your points except I feel that Halo 5 was the better game. But the beauty of it is that I don't care which Halo is your favorite as long as you have one. Reach was still a great game and I have been playing it alot through Halo MCC, but SWAT in Halo 5 is much better. I also feel like you are more agile and deadly in Halo 5. But that's just my opinion.

Halo 5 disappointed me because of the lack of splitscreen which is the main draw for me when playing Halo. But I agree that the general physics and gameplay might be a bit better than reach. It's just that as a lonely depressed person I'd rather play with my friends in the same room than with other lonely fuckers who won't even turn on their microphones. Halo 5 had substantially better multiplayer level design. Bungie was very lazy in reach. Halo 3 still has the best multiplayer levels of any game in the series.

Halo 5 is a better game but Halo Reach is a better experience.

I can understand that, I forgot that Halo 5 didnt have split screen which is really odd when you consider the original Halo was all about co-op multiplayer and helped to get the franchise started. The good news is that Halo Infinite is supposed to have split screen added back.

That will be exciting. I think I might skip next gen because I really don't like the direction of the gaming industry. But I'll still definitely get halo infinite for xbox one x if it's top notch.

Well, the good news is that the XBOX ONE will be supported for a while longer as MS wants to have XSX titles work on the X1 as well. But eventually games will stop supporting the older generation, plus the XSX is supposed to be fully backward compatible with X1 games as well as original/360 that are already BC. From what i've read it will also enhance BC titles with better graphics so it might be worth it to upgrade eventually just for that.

I'm still playing on an OG X1 VCR so i'll probably upgrade to a XSX not too long after it comes out......Probably.

My list would be:

1. Morrowind. No contest.
2. Ocarina of Time / Twilight Princess (Not quite sure which one I like better -- both hit the high points of zelda games for me)
3. Terraria / Minecraft (Hard to pick between these two as well)
4. Mario 64
5. Tales of Symphonia. Everything about this game is excellent, from the action-based combat to the balls-to-the-wall insane story.

FFX

FFX has aged surprisingly well -- when it came out it was hot garbage compared to other FF games, but I think I do like it better than the other ones now due to its extremely smooth UX. Also the music was fantastic. IMO, FF12 had better gameplay and exploration but the story and characters were lacking. Older final fantasies had both good gameplay and story but the UIs were janky as all hell.

Pokemon

These games were definitely revolutionary for the time, and they're still interesting games that offer basically infinite replay value but the RPG mechanics are extremely weak and uninspiring. Their stories are also weak and towns/npc interactions are dull and boring. I prefer immersive games (see list above), but all that would be okay if the gameplay were phenomenal and it just.. isn't.

Super Mario All-Stars

That's cheating! Three (or four) games in one. Also if we're going that route I liked kirby super star much better.

1. Chrono Trigger

I haven't played this game since 2006, should really take it up again. I remember liking it but it wasn't my favorite RPG or anything.

2. Super Mario RPG

Definitely don't get the appeal of this one. Not a great mario game, not a great RPG, not even a great SNES isometric game. It was fun and kind of quirky but wouldn't be in my top ten.

Well I have to disagree with you. Maybe i'm biased because it came out when I was a kid so I grew up playing it but I think It has charm and humor. Plus I think the isometric, pre-rendered graphics make it one of the best looking SNES games.
