didn't go anywhere, didn't buy anything. But it was the day my brother got home from an overseas trip, and he brought back a load of stuff. There's a bunch of other jazz I could share if anyone wants, but really I'm just here to present this treasure:

"is that a keychain that plays audio clips from the musical masterpiece Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen, by modern-day visionary Pikotaro?"

indeed it is

I'm not sure who decided this should exist and be sold at retail, but our world is better for it

also if you're so unfortunate as to not know what I'm talking about, please treat yourself to this minute of earthly magic:

I feel like you know of another world that I have never experienced before.

This is all I can handle for now, though.

Did your bounty include captain falcon and ted nugent in it?

How did he like Japan? What are some of the things he did?

understandable in many cases, but this odd little number actually is was is a thing at least:
"PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)" (Japanese: ペンパイナッポーアッポーペン Hepburn: Penpainappōappōpen) is a single by Pikotaro, a fictional singer-songwriter created and portrayed by Japanese comedian Daimaou Kosaka.[1][2] It was released as a music video on YouTube on 25 August 2016, and has since become a viral video. As of June 2018, the official video has been viewed almost 200 million times,[3] spawned parodies, and has been hailed as the new "Gangnam Style" by various newspapers and online media.[4][5] The single itself reached number 1 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart and became the shortest single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. At the end of 2016, the songs charted at number 6 on Japan Hot 100 Year-end Chart.

you should probably just listen to it on repeat for a while to make up for lost time c:

and to answer the other question on everyone's mind right now, yes of course there's a matching Apple Pen keychain, which my brother got for himself

How did he like Japan? What are some of the things he did?

this was his second time there, and he enjoyed both trips a lot as far as I know (I mean, he wanted to go back so clearly the first was worth). He first went about two years ago (which, to bring things back around, was when he encountered a PPAP pop-up cafe and sent me the video). We haven't actually had much chance to talk since he got back, but I do know that this trip included stuff like teamLab Borderless (digital art museum, fkn rad pictures tbh), a cable car/hike up some mountain, and an aquarium in Osaka. And of course the important nerdy shit like Akihabara and various Pokémon Centers (plus a poké-cafe with some real neat food art).

I think I would come home with too many Pokemon plushies if I went to Japan.

Posted November 27th by Bubba

tbh I would come back with a phanpy plush

on that note, poké-stuff he brought me from both trips:

last time, he texted me a bunch of late-night pictures of the plush area of a Center he was at and asked if there was anything I wanted.

Dragonite was an obvious choice, since he's been one of my favorites since always. But when I saw Ditto Vulpix, there was no way I could pass him up. I mean, look at that face and tell me that's not a little ray of sunshine sitting on a shelf in my bedroom.

this year's booty. Tiny Snorlax is always welcome as king of all pogemons, and the zipper case was a bonus because he saw it cheap in Taiwan and it's obviously not an official product (and the position of that ball looks pretty...censorship-y, lol). Primarina statue was a random surprise, appreciated bc she was the best starter last gen. And just look at the level of happiness on Bounsweet's face. Soak in the joy radiating off that sweet little baby c:

she also has the tiniest little stubby feet I've seen on a plush doll. The side-leaves on her head flop up and down freely and it's weirdly satisfying.

I want to go to aokigahara

seems morbidly fascinating

Gengar man myself but Snorlax is an Absolute Unit

What surprises me even more than the content of that video was the fact that I voluntarily chose to watch it twice.

There are times that I feel like Pinsir is the Waluigi of Pokemon. He was clearly much less popular than Scyther, his first generation counterpart, who would go on to receive a mega popular evolution in the second generation. He then went on to be overshadowed by his younger brother, Heracross, who was clearly meant to be an evolution at one point but was instead implemented as a very similar yet objectively superior alternative to Pinsir. He had to wait until the second generation to get a bug type move and the fourth to get a bug type move that was remotely worth using. For three generations his entire level up movepool consisted of normal and fighting type moves, despite not possessing Heracross' offensively synergistic Bug/Fighting typing.

On the other hand, Pinsir has one of the coolest shiny colorations and an awesome Mega Evolution, so he's seen some justice in spite of it all. I always use him when I replay Blue but I load him up on HM moves because he literally can't learn anything worthwhile in that game.

Anyway Pinsir is the Pokemon plush I would express myself with, were I so inclined.

I was always sad that Pinsir got such a raw deal, in spite of looking like an absolute goddamn horror. Seemed like they damn near forgot about him until they decided to let the poor boy megavolve.

gengar is a cool dude and IIRC my brother said he was in the popular club for merchandise this year. Which is totally understandable, with that winning smile of his.

i always liked all of the spikey bug pokemon. it was too hard to decide if i wanted pinsir, scyther or beedrill on my team. good thing kabutops was a rock? guy and not a bug or it would be even harder

Edited November 27th by poptart!

Outside of sycther I was never big into bug types. The electric spider thing is pretty cool though. Its my understanding is that it has shit defense

Pineapple pen

Posted November 29th by Brandy

Heracross is the best bug Pokémon and a very handsome boy.

Posted November 29th by Fox Forever

I think a real Pineapple Pin would be more practical.
