I recently began watching the entire Friday the 13th series.

The first two suck. The third one is slightly better. The fourth one is the first one to show self-awareness and significant growth over the previous entries. That's the latest one I've watched and it's my favorite so far.

In general, I prefer overtly supernatural, magical or nightmarish horror. However, the undying madman is proving itself to be an intriguing trope. Because of this, I am having trouble in deciding whether to watch the Halloween series or the Nightmare on Elm Street series next.

Ocean's 8 - It was good. It never felt like a feminist "girl power" movie, it just felt like fun, although there were some aspects of the heist that felt a little too unbelievable but what can ya do. 8/10

Incredibles 2 - It was pretty good. Not total shit like some sequels. It wish it advanced the lore a little bit more if that makes sense. By the end of it all the characters go back to normal as if the movie didn't even happen. The seizure-inducing Screenslaver fight was cool. 7/10

Avengers Infinity War - Fucking boring. I went to see it with my younger brothers and sisters (all 10 or younger) and they didn't like it. The got scared and wanted to leave so I didn't even see the end of it. Is this was normies are watching nowadays? I liked Spider-Man Homecoming but the Avengers was just dark and depressing with shoehorned one-liners and unfunny comic relief in between. 5/10

Avengers Infinity War - Fucking boring.

I didn't see Thor 3 so the beginning of the movie made almost zero sense to me. And I agree, it wasn't that interesting. Avengers should really just be a TV series. The movie tried to do too much and divided the screen time up waaay too much. And if you missed Thor 3 or Black Panther you're fucked.

Black Panther was a terrible movie as well, cramming racial tension bullshit down the audience's throat instead of just being a good super hero movie about Africa.

I saw Antman and the Wasp, it was better than Avengers but the Ghost villain could have been so much cooler. I like the subtle Tim & Eric reference

I saw Antman and the Wasp,

I did too!

it was better than Avengers

LOL. It was not better than the Avengers. I found it to be the weakest of the Phase 3 films. (Well better than GOTG) but a good time nonetheless.

but the Ghost villain could have been so much cooler.

I agree. I liked her motivations and wish they did a little bit more with them. I am glad it ended how it ended though. The actress is A1 as well.

my only real issue with the movie was the comedy. When anything remotely serious happened there always had to be a joke that killed the mood. Like tone it back Marvel.

My rather affluent friend gave me a crap load of movie passes and a 25 dollar gift card because the chain of theaters that they are for don't exist where she goes to school lol.

I saw the Incredibles 2. It wasn't as good as the original.

I saw the Incredibles 2. I enjoyed it a good bit, especially how it had matured. They touched on some interesting entry-level intellectual concerns about cape fiction, including strained personal relationships, the effect of hero worship, and egoism of the heroes themselves. As only appropriate, I think, seeing as how the people that watched the original as minors are now adults themselves, possibly even with their own kids.

The first was more focused around the family and the plot felt stronger. Yeah, Incredibles 2 is more mature, and also more complicated, less focused, losing track of the characters we actually care about. The first movie was a perfect package from start to end. That's the benefit of not having to do a sequel: you can do whatever best serves the story, no strings attached.

I disagree. I'm not sure what characters you'd say were "lost track of", but I had no problem following more than one plot.

It's not that there was trouble following the plot, the plot just wasn't that strong.

I loooooved Ant-Man and the Wasp. The smaller scale, more personal stakes aspect of both Ant-Man movies are much more my jam. And I also really like that Ant-Man actually feels more like a comedy proper. (I also maintain that Ant-Man movies have had some of the most visually fun and interesting action in any superhero movie. The size shifting stuff paired really well with the phasing ability of Ghost.)

I also really liked that it kinda took a unique approach to its villain. Like, when you really reflect on it, the true villain of the film is some random dude who is essentially a secondary character. Ghost appears to fulfill the role of foil, but the scope of her mission is really small. She isn't motivated by money or power or revenge. She just wants to be cured of her condition. She doesn't even really drive the action, as a villain is supposed to. Because she's not really the villain. And I kind of loved that. I found it structurally more interesting than most Marvel films.

Also saw Jurassic World 2: Jurassic Park 5. It was somehow even more garbage than Jurassic World: Jurassic Park 4. Except it becomes so hilariously schlocky by the second half of the movie that I kinda loved it. It's awful.
