Minecraft: Dungeons

It's Minecraft without mining and crafting! It's Diablo without classes and skills! What more could you want?

This is a new game (by Mojang, no less) that brings the setting and style of Minecraft into a dungeon crawling format. While that's not the biggest leap of faith, I'm not sure about how they're doing it. Apparently, progression is based on equipment and enchantments, not character levels. While I think that different stats and movesets for different characters is something that I would regret not having, it's obviously more of a casual game and I do like the idea of playing Minecraft purely for the dungeon delving while cutting out the boring resource-gathering bits in-between.

I'm surprised that I didn't hear about this sooner. I just randomly started up Minecraft today because I had a little time to waste and I saw it on the launcher sidebar. It's coming out on May 26.

I'll be checking out beta gameplay tonight to see if I think it's worth pre-ordering (probably not, as I have a supremely high bar for pre-orders).

Let us know how it is. I saw the announcement for it during E3 and it didn't look that interesting.

I think that I'm going to pre-order it, but only because I specifically have a wasted money budget so that I don't have to feel bad about buying games and other shit. It doesn't look like something I'd normally spend $20-$30 on, but they're probably going to add a lot more content to it after release.

Is he actually allowed to call it Minecraft Dungeons? Doesn't Microsoft own the copyright to Minecraft? Or is he working with Microsoft for the game development?

What are you talking about? The game is being developed by Mojang. Microsoft owns Mojang and the Minecraft property.

My bad, I confused Mojang and Notch.
